    Thanks E-Man!

    1. U.S. in the top 10...you know it!

    2. Spain No. 3? O-ver-ra-ted!

3.I would love, LOVE to hang around those national teams near the bottom...just to be there when they do win one. 186-ranked Aruba vs. 199-ranked Bhutan!

    4. We lost 4-2...knocked us out of playoff contention...4-3-1 record, +2 GD....not bad for a first year coach, eh?

ok, explained it to dh and he asked WHY??

And I said, "Just because!" LOL

In pee wee league, some refs call it and some you never hear call it and we could never figure out what IT was. Now, at least we know what to look for!

See, that was my point earlier - not defending the position, but Americans are drawn to higher-scoring sports. An American would never have come up with this rule, and that's why US indoor soccer leagues don't use it.

This is part of hockey's struggle to make it big, and to a degree explains baseball's declining popularity. A 1-0 soccer, hockey, or baseball game could be a jewel, an almost perfect contest - to a purist. But it doesn't translate to SportsCenter well.

A recent study of Little League batting averages showed that they are lower than ever before - because every time the kids make contact now, instead of sprinting outta the batter's box, they drop that bat and do a home run pose they've seen on SportsCenter. No kidding - that was the official explanation.

We as a culture want to keep score - the beauty of witnessing a well-played game is unvalued...

Point taken. The game though, is all about anticipation, so when a goal is scored everyone goes bananas. Well, my teams supporters do!

    ..and we beat Liverpool!
