Witnesses are notoriously cheap and most don't put anything in the contribution box when they get their literature
As a former accounts servant for my old congregation I can totally confirm this. We were on the brink of hitting below $0.00 almost every month. I feel sick now for giving a talk during the announcements asking people to "give more". Oh well, that was then...

They should start posting the mags on the Internet and we can look at them if we pay a fee. Works great for the porn sites.

Heeeeeeeeyyyyyyy! I see what you mean about Vivamus and the Geico commercial. There IS a tremendous likeness.

C'mon Viv, let's see the rest of your kisser and let us see for ourselves if you're the woman in the Geico commercial.

If saving money is the problem, why does there have to be a new magazine every week? Why not combine the Watchtower and Awake, and make it one monthly magazine, available by regular paid subscription?

That way, the only people who will get the magazine are those interested enough to pay for it, just like they do for other magazines they want.

Maybe there could be small subsidies for those who live in poor countries, supported by the world wide contributions.

Also, people are less likely to throw away what they have paid for. Or to feel that it has been forced upon them.

Instead of throwing them away, the should all be collected and exported to Africa where they can be used as cooking fuel.

I personally don't think that Watchtowers and Awake magazines are rubbish.

I find they contain invaluable information when taking the Society/an individual JW to court.

So don't throw them away folks - keep them - you never know when they may come in useful

True, however, I wonder what the ones who next call on me are going to think when I give them a 2 dollar donation for them and RIP THEM UP RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR FACE! Then i'll pull out a wad of ones and ask if they have any more. ROFL

Hmm I just thought......would that still be considered a placement?

This is a complete reversal from the old days.

I remember Service Meeting parts that encouraged everyone to have a subscription for every member in the family. It seems that when the magazines are being sold, waste means nothing. It only becomes a factor when the contributions stop.
