Anointed, Crazy, Overzealous, or Good Acting?

For what it's worth, the Bible appears to show that there is only one hope/calling and God is going to bring Heaven down to the Earth, so that everyone God saves will experience both the New Heavens and the New Earth:

Ephesians 4:4: just as you were called to the one hope of your calling

Revelation 21:1-4: And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea is no more. I also saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Most "anointed" Christians (or those with the calling) are simply overzealous and dealing with some kind of cognitive dissonance. It may seem "crazy" to many of us, but they seem to be fully functional people. But there are some crazy ones mixed in, too.

Top Ten Signs That Your Christianity is Conflicting With Your Sanity

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen and ancient goat herders sitting in their tents telling how people lived hundreds of years and guessing that Earth was a handful of generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

    OnTheWayOut,

Thank goodness none of those things are involved anymore in my personal Christianity faith.

@ OTWO - that is a very striking and thought provoking list. Thank you.

I have always had a problem seeing how such a loving God could annihilate babies and yet Jesus condemned violence. Did he have his reasons? Probably so. But this human has a hard time accepting them.
