Hello, some of you old friends and not so much

i'm wondering why my 13 year-old account from BeliefNet is in your database.

    interesting...

so that's how you get your numbers for "members"

    from other forums.

    lol

If you have an account here its because you registered - period.

Are you saying everything stays here for ever Simon? 13 years is an awful long time don't you think?

Maybe when people register you should warn them that anything they say or do here will be kept for ever ala the N.S.A and not just slam them with the somewhat brusk and curt response as you did to the sincere question above.

People should have some rights over their identities (even if fake) and data. You don't really own the members you know.

You have already made it impossible for anyone to ever clear or delete personal messages and ignored many requests to allow people control of their own inboxes.

What's this seeming hostilty towards peoples freedoms and privacy that you often disply? Is all this data your private property?

'for ever' is a long time. I'm not sure the forum will be here that long but in the meantime there is no automatic deletion policy.

Sincere? It was nothing of the sort - full of innuendo that the number of members is somehow fabricated and that people's accounts are not from them registering.

Most people are aware that what they post online is difficult to completely redact.

No one has rights over fake identities, LOL. For other rights you should refer to the terms and conditions which are quite clear. No one is being fooled although that doesn't mean there are no fools.

No, I just haven't got round to it yet. It's hardly the end of civilisation as we know it.

Who's the one being hostile? It seems to be you ... why?

Welcome to the internet! Everything you ever do on the internet is there to stay, nobody is paid to clean up the internet for you, to remove and cleanse it of old data and so it exists forever on it. The internet is just a bunch of computers with pages and accounts stored on them. If you sign up and write something on the internet, guess what.... Thats where the responsibility begins and ends.... With you.

Maybe think ahead a little more, you must have come here, signed up, said what you said and left. Guess what there arent people paid to clean up after you, welcome to FREE AND OPEN INFORMATION. Besides, what are you scared of? Maybe if you have WT eyes on you or worries about WT punishments , your anger is being directed at the wrong people....

Maybe if you paid someone for the time..

Why should people use their own time, clearning up after your internet exploration and expression?

Are you afraid? Of watchtower? Does that not set off alarm bells ....?

P.s. It costs money to run websites and lots of effort and time, people like simon should be appreciated for his sacrifices. Now you want him to give time to cleansing your desicions!? You see, most people use the internet responsibly or dont live under cult fear, so this is not a common problem on the internet. If you break the law via the internet, thats when people start deleting stuff. Have you broke a law? Why so scared or annoyed?

If having your old posts here retained disturb you, I would suggest not searching the term "internet archive"
