Considering the military shooting the people uses US arms or funding to buy those arms, i think the EGyptians dont need any more help from America.
And as of today it is being reported that Syria has possibly killed several hundred protesters with a chemical weapon (gas).
Obama has already stated that use of WMD's in the Syrian uprising would be "A game changer" and would not be tolerated.
Now that it has happened.
Watch for the Pres to hide behind the UN and "our allies" to escape his commitment.
There are very few good options for either the Syria crisis or the Egypt crisis.
American money ensures Egyptian peace with Israel, priority access to the Suez canal and counter-terrorism cooperation.
The Camp David peace accord brokered by Jimmy Carter in the 1970's assures equality of aid from America to both Egypt and Israel. No American administration has tried to tinker with that accord by withholding aid for bad acts.
It's not as simple as a soundbite like "just cut off aid to Egypt". That would cause unintended consequences.
They should have condemned the military coup from the start. America is no friend of democracy in the Middle East.

Now that Syria has probably been exposed clearly using WMDs against their own people watch for more weasel words.

We all know that America gives money to Egypt and large portions of that are basically stole and become bribes for the rulers of former and current Egypt. They call it aid but its never accountable and you can bet its finding its way into the right pockets.
The tensions between the Muslim controlled world and the Western 'christian' controlled countries is a 600-700 year old conflict. The respective religions that control the mindsets of these two spheres are central to why this conflict continues. Even the socalled moderates of both sides routinely betray each other. The Camp David Accord barely holds two of the major parties together.
Offer humanitarian aid through mutually respected NGOs.
