Coming from a major Chicago metropoloitan newspaper for over a decade, and seeing it's decline firsthand by the internet, I understand the WHY behind what they are doing!
Newsprint, ink, etc...costs $
The internet is basically FREE!
1. First the Watchtower DEMONIZED the internet!
2. Then they used it, but warned their followers to not use it.
3. NOW, they will encourage them to use it but only to receive THEIR information.
Sounds like CYBER-CONTROL to me.

Ban the internet its full of porn, bomb and drug making recipes, how to build weapons, sodomy, birth day card sellers, xmas card sellers, easter egg sellers, ads for the blood bank, commericalisation of religion, cross sellers and more!
So the GB realize their present method of doing from door-to-door is not effective.Why not go the whole route,use T.V./RADIO/INTERNET to spread the good news(not sure why they call it good news here)when it's God's Kingdom everwhere else.
I can see the R&F bending their knees to this false god gb/fds and saying, it a great thing.When many here are light years ahead of these doo-doo birds.

I am shocked, livid and offended that a mere technological means is assessed by the Brothers as more effective at spreading the good news than I am. I will never get over this - ever! What's that you say? I can now sleep in weekends and never trudge around the streets in my pastel crimpolene suit with mismatched shirt and tie, never again have to write down the endless list of not-at-homes, never have to hand out the magazines to thankless people, never spend hours stifling the bone-crunching boredom of doing the JW shuffle down uninviting streets. You mean I can instread go to Dunkin' Do-nuts or Wendy's on Satrudays without feeling guilty because the internet is on 24/7 and does the work more effectively than me. I hadn't realized.....
What a fk*g relief it iwill be to never ever feel guilty about not going out in the ministry ever again. Thank you Jehoe-vah! Thank you Brothers! Thank you most of all the Internet - you are so much more effective than little old weary me at spreading the word. You have removed any remaining sense of squeaky urgency and need I have to preach. Man am I celebratin' this Saturday. Any other active witness want to join me at Wendy's? We can surf the net while were at it.
The letter is a fake. Unless the GB are writing letters to bodies of elders in simplified english the wording of the letter is not in the style of the writing dept.
While i enjoy and appreciate the humour of the spoof letter it is not to be trusted.
