Did the WT return to "old light" regarding the "overlapping" concept? Wt 9-1-52

    Here is what astonishes me:

    1. A generation is regarded as 30 to 40 years, according to the article; we know that the WT later amended this to be 70 or 80.

NO matter what length it is, they talk about their overlap; generations overlap, no argument there.

But what the scripture says is: The generation, NOT generations, will not pass away, etc. The society has tried to define the word by giving it qualities that are inimical to it's definition. You can only stretch the idea so far.

Yes, generations overlap, but STILL Jesus said GENERATION, one generation, not plural. But with the utterance of a few 'food at the right time', 'faithful and discreet slave' and 'not running ahead' phrases, the rank and file shuts off their reasoning ability.

    2. The WT makes DISPOSABLE DOCTRINE their stock in trade; the rank and file do not catch onto the fact that 'truth' is relative to the moment. Truth is whatever New York says it is.

Interesting article from '52, but recycled doctrine ? NO..

Although they mention overlapping, it is in the context of generation(s) plural. They categorically state that the living at 1914 will see the end.

My question is this. They say that The Bible uses the word "generation" . Of course it did not originally. A word in Hebrew and a word in Greek have been translated to us as "generation". Why do they cite occasions in the Hebrew OT to support understanding of the Greek NT?

The words and the language used are entirely different and one does not support the other. In the recent articles, they never mentioned the Greek word. It entirely rests upon our understanding of the word "generation" , to which they have their own unique definition.
