so when they don't understand it - it MUST be demonized... right?

That is so true, like a medieval map everything outside dubland is labelled with, "Here there be dragons"

Last time I checked Society does not provide an outline for the pioneers meeting

Actually, they do provide an outline for pioneer meetings. After the main talk, the CO will then add his personal commentary.

deleted their FB accounts. Then, after a while.............they made new ones!!

This is what most JWs will probably do. They'll delete their account and then a few months later reason that they are the exception and create a new account.

15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure.

Exactly, because to the JWs just about everything is "the debil" (remember the waterboy's mom)

Shopaholic: Thanks for the update. When I was a CO they didin't. But what you say fits the general trend: More control. In my days we would make our own talks (except the Public Talk on Sundays). But little by little they started to supply us with outlines, 'unity' being the reason.

I just had two JWs on my friends list delete their FB account last week. Coincidence?

Let's see how many more will during the upcoming weeks.

This latest "claim" from the GB about all this supposedly FB sex going on is really going to stigmitize the JW's that decide to not follow the "wise" council of the GB and keep their FB accounts. I can see it now, the peer pressure coming from the brothers will be that any JW that has a FB account is having FB sex! Same as how the internet is stigmitized by the JW's, in that anyone using the internet must be into porno!

They are so evil.....in reality we all know they are afraid of the light!

I went through a few lists of control group tactics. It was really easy to pick out many used in that talk.

Feel free to share this: http://cultprevention.blogspot.com/2010/01/facebook-is-not-for-true-xians.html

How about deleting The Watchtower instead?

A couple of years ago, they were bashing MySpace pretty much in the same way. For starters, there is no way you can have sex simply by watching a computer screen. It is possible to post pictures online that are pornographic in nature, that may or may not be truly you (or doctored up to make the picture more attractive). However, that is no worse than regular porn. You need to physically meet up with the person to have sex, and if the picture was doctored up, that might kill whatever sex desire they had (especially if the pictures were doctored up to make you look 50 pounds lighter and 30 years younger than you look in real life).

Porn aside, I don't understand why they won't let people use these sites. People can be selective in who they choose as friends, and delete them if they find out that they accepted "friend" status on false premises. I myself have deleted many "friends" that turned out to be spambots and were deleted from the site on MySpace--and I ultimately required anyone to solve a captcha to request friend status or post a comment on my blog. That eliminated virtually all the spam accounts and comments.

There are legitimate cautions when using these sites. First, giving out personal information on these sites is very risky. If you give that information out, there is a chance that someone with nefarious purposes will do something bad with the information (usually identity theft). You can pick up viruses and worms on these sites. It is possible to get flamed on the forums, especially with those of political, health, or religious nature. You do have to be careful about meeting people on these forums and sites in person, because pictures can be doctored up. I could post a picture of anyone and pretend it's mine. I could also lie in my bio and turn out to be someone that you would not want--lots of sexual predators lie in their bios and post fake pictures, only to rape and kill people or kidnap their children once they do meet.

However, these social sites have a lot to offer. You can share information, swap files and music, and post information that could help people find solutions to their problems. You can play games. There is usually a pretty big forum, along with groups of people with narrower and more specific interests. You can post blogs on these sites. You can share experiences with different religions--in all denominations, both positive and negative. Of course, it is time that "is for field circus"--hence they want you to just delete these accounts instead of using common sense in who you select as friends, which groups to join, and what information you wish to share.
