Again, they get into so much foolishness by trying to claim not only that the bible is theologically cohesive, but they they are the only ones with the right to interpret it.
It seems pretty clear to me now in retrospect that the bible is divided on this issue theologically, given the assumption the bible is true. Different writers clearly say don't offend or be offended. Even though I'm an atheist, I think the "traditionalist" religions like Catholics and Orthodoxy have a much better theological position by including the idea of a lineage. At least they'll man up and claim responsibility for it instead of banging your head against the wall with sola scriptura BS about how CLEAR the bible is.
