Stereotypes are dangerous. (Ever dropped a Panasonic on your toe?)

There's no way I agree with either side of this atheist verses christian argument. Besides, you can only present examples of extreme behavior through those who perform them.

There are definitely more balanced atheists and christians in the world than we are giving credit to here on this board. You'll have to admit that the ilk who use this board are probably more extreme in opinion than the bulk of either "faith" who are just quietly going about their lives.

I say it doesn't matter what you believe and that you WILL believe in what makes sense to you, regardless of "proof" or history or anything else outside of your own consciuosness. Now, I call that spirituality, but it's all in our mind. It doesn't really matter if there is a "purpose" or "creator" since we all make our own purpose and our own creator. We are all living out our own fantasy, if you will. We call it life. Whatever "purpose" there may be is irrelevant to our own personal course in life.

I definitely don't think christians suck. I also don't think atheists suck. I like the bumper sticker that says "Mean People Suck". I think our beliefs should change as we change. As we grow and learn we should adjust our beliefs. For some, that may mean going back and forth between belief in a God and a lack thereof. But whatever we do, we should not be mean to anyone. Just be good.

Nowatess, your preaching in this forum is wasted. Whatever you feel compelled to do for the lord by way of spreading the gospel do it elsewhere. You should have picked up on the dislike in us XJW's for anyone trying to convert us covertly. Participate in discussion but do not try to convert. You remind me of the boy/girl who is told to go away by their intended lover but does not stop trying to court their prey. After a while we get to thinking of you as a stalker.

Rex, it is always a touchy thing to comment on ones superiority over another. But that does not make it any less true that some people are superior in habits and understanding to others. Those of us who have broken free from the mind-controlling cults do have a claim to a superior understanding of how mind-control cults work. When we see others, with less experience and understanding, with weaker minds, being led along by yet another cult it is difficult to express our distaste without sounding superior. In fact, the superior knowledge of others who had broken free is what enabled me to eventually do the same. Just because your Protestant church does not use a heavy hand similar to the WTS does not exempt it from same mind-control tactics common to all salvation faiths. You are welcome to stay in your church and do your thing but don't get offended if you're treated like an ignorant sycophant from time to time by those of us who have left the churches behind. We mean you no more harm than you mean us when you attempt to save us from hell.

    Hi Sean,
Don't whine to me about, 'mind control tactics' being present in other churches than JW. Exhortation and teaching are a heck of a lot different than the hypnotic and repetitious tactics that the 'dubs use all of the time. There is absolutely no comparison. It appears taht you still suffer from the ingrained slander that your (former?) masters blathered about REAL CHRISTIANITY.
    Have a nice evening!

Personally, I don't think so. then you don't read my E-mail wihter.

Many people became Jehovah's Witnesses for a reason, to serve the true God. There are many XJWS who feel the same.

My style may not fit into the XJW mold, but I won't stop trying.

I am greatly saddend to see in many cases the Watchtower is right. If you are an XJW, read this board and are searching for still serve God, then what the Wt says about those who leave seems true. It may be hard for some to pallette, but no less they have done a good job.

That is why many go back into the Watcthower. There is no altertive for them. Plus even if they see the hyproscrsy, what they are beginning to see is worse than what they have left. I remember, I did not meet too many XJW whom after they left mimic any form of a Godly lifesyle. It confirmed what I was taught by the Watcthower, not visa versa. It was years later when I met some XJWS who did become Christians that I began to see the Wt was wrong in some cases.

:“We are just able to ask more questions about life than the horse,”

Actually the horse asks no questions at all because he cannot. We, on the other hand, can and do ask the question. That is the difference between us and the horse in this case.

:” I don't think a creator is necessary for a purpose. At it's basic level any organism's 'purpose' is to reproduce. Since we have highly evolved brains and are conscious, we just have more possible 'purposes'. I agree that there does not have to be a reason to have a purpose.”

Design requires creativity, creativity demands a creator. Something that arises out of chaos cannot be said to be designed. If human life is the result of a series of accidents (would not want those odds at a slot machine) then it is, by definition, without purpose. Reproduction is a function of an organism and not it’s purpose. Our ‘highly evolved brains’ are hardly and end to themselves.

:“Whatever "purpose" there may be is irrelevant to our own personal course in life.”

I can’t agree with that anymore than I can agree that life is a fantasy. Our personal beliefs are often at the base of our actions and life is real. However, I do agree with the following: “I definitely don't think christians suck. Just be good.”

I don't know if you should be so quick to decide that Horses "ask no questions at all", Frenchy. Btw, how quick were you to decide that?

You may want to check out the research presented in a book I found, "Will I See Fido in Heaven?".

Here is an official blurb about the book:

"Will I See Fido in Heaven?" shows through Scripture that animals can reason, love and even honor, praise and obey God. It is surprising how much the Bible has to say about animals and God's concern for them. To many this is an unexpected delight. To others it may be a sobering revelation.

The many heartwarming and unusual stories found throughout "Will I See Fido in Heaven?" beautifully illustrate animals' unbroken link with our Creator and how it seems to bring them insight beyond man's mortal comprehension.

When you realize that life does not end at physical death, the pain of losing a pet is not so bad. "Will I See Fido in Heaven?" will bring peace, great joy, enlightenment, and contentment to all who truly love their pets and hope to see them in Heaven.

Remember, blurbs NEVER lie, and guns don't kill people.

I fear that some will read this and immediately discount it, but that would be a mistake. It required five years of Biblical Study, done by a Christian research team headed by author Mary Buddemeyer-Porter, to bring this book together.

Unexpected delight or sobering revelation, one has to respect five years of biblical study done by a christian research team. We aren't talking about a crazed lonely doglover with an eye for green here, we're talking about bible truth as revealed to a research team. That's like science, but applied to the bible!

Exciting stuff in these here end times.
