I am one of those weird ones that forgets to eat too. I just don't have cravings for food. I have been that way for years. I suffer from hypoglycemia which is low blood sugar, so most of the time I usually am reminded to eat, when my body starts shaking I have always cooked regular meals for my family though, like clockwork. Other than nibble as I cook, I don't always eat it though.
This past summer I went a week without eating more than an apple, and I had to force myself to do that, and it got stuck in my throat. At the time I was going through a huge emotional ordeal, so I can understand why my mind was least focused on food. As far as the mental aspect of not eating, like I said I was going through a tough time, and my mind was a mess anyway
I say just listen to your mind, as long as you eat something everyday, or every other day, your body will still respond to cravings. I mean, it will tell you when to eat. If it isn't telling you then it doesn't need it. I think the craving mechanism is cut off though after a long time without food, so be careful. Also it is important to at least drink some juice, as it contains alot of vitamins that your body needs.
BTW I am going through a feeding frenzy now I can't remember the last time I was so hungry, all the time! So if nothing else works, get preggers
