Just left my sister who is definitely still in. She was scheduled to go on a Bethel tour this summer, but she said it was canceled. She stated that apparently not enough interest was shown.

Anyone else hear of something like this?

I'm still trying to figure out what the Society is doing in all that square footage in Brooklyn Heights. The printing is all in Wallkill, and the Patterson commune is HUGE.

With the Google Earth site, I can come right down and look at their rooftops and they have a LOT of square footage on those roofs. Even after they sold Furman and after they sell the 6 properties currently on the market, there's still a LOT there. What the heck are they using it all for? Is it just a retirement home?

I'm still amazed at the fortune these guys have amassed. Man, those nickles and dimes we hustled on dirty street corners really added up.

That probably just means a group tour ride starting out from her locality, not the tours in general.

Yeah, I think this has to do more with a certain congregation not being able to get a group together to take the trip and go on the tour. I mean, who in the hell has time to do that?

What were they planning to see on the tour? From what I understand, the only people at headquarters are those that sit behind a desk, with the exception of the laundry, cleaning and the kitchen departments! That would hardly be a reason to visit Brooklyn Bethel (assuming that is what you are refering to)!

Oh, I can only imagine what the tour guide would say:

“Now brothers and sisters, we are now passing by the desks of the attorneys that handle all are pending litigation from those bad and wicked apostates!” There’s a long pause as the tour group watches and contemplates the legal department in action!

    Have a happy day!

You guys are just too much! Yeah, I meant that not enough local people showed enough interest. They were going to Brooklyn, Patterson, Wallkill and over into Canada. She was really looking forward to going, but seemed relieved that the show was no longer on.

SHHH Do not let the pioneers know, but God canceled tours to Bethel a long time ago! Read all about in your bible. Shhh it is a secret!

Any "Bethel" tours are arranged by "brothers/sisters" who do it as a business to make a profit. If enough don't sign up....no trip. No sign of let up on trips around here. But money is tight and gas is expensive. The WTS has some list of "appropriate" hotels for those visiting their facilities. I wonder if they get a kickback?

These remind me of the bus travel tours non-JWs go on, some visiting casinos as well as scenery.

Correction: All the ones I knew did it for a profit, even if it was that their own trip was free. Some JWs independently organize trips. But no one is running a charity here. They have to break even or no one goes.
