Edit - even more wow after I read the court order. It's pretty sweeping in the information it requires the Botchtower to produce. Botchtower claims that it is protected by the clergy-penitent privilege, yet the history of this privilege is derived from the Catholic rite of confession. So Botchtower is trying to hide behind a Catholic-derived legal precident.
Danny needs to get out publicity machine on this one! It'll be even more interesting to see what evidence the Botchtower produces.

This ruling from the court states simply that the church cannot use “clergy penitent privilege” as a way to protect pedophiles from law enforcement. The ruling further states information stated in judicial hearings of Jehovah’s Witnesses as well as documents generated by those hearings are not “privileged” and will have to be released to the courts as any information that is relevant to the case. In addition, the Legal Department will have to produce all documents related to their abuse policy and how they investigate child abuse allegations.
HELL YEAH! It's about goddam time this happened. Take that you Watchtower Bastards!

This is WONDERFUL news, even if it is just for California. It's still a major step forward. So does this mean that people could use this ruling to take the Borg to court in other states? Kinda like kicking them in the shins over and over till the finally fall down....

May be this is the "big announcement" that was rumored over the past few weeks.

The irony of this in evident. On one side the society claims that all other religions are from satan. While at the same time they attempt to use the priviliges given to these condemned satanic groups for their own purposes.
I'm confused about one thing:
What use are the documents if they do not contain any answers?
Also, further down item 4 is clarified as referring to "general information about the types of records kept by the legal department".
Are we *really* sure the Pedophile Database has been cracked? It seems like the Plaintiffs will get everything *but* the actual database.
