What exactly is put into the file on those who are disfellowedshipped? Is the information very detailed,so that others can read such details,or is it just that they have been disfellowedshipped.

For example:Suppose someone have been DF.for a sexual matter, brother or sister. Are the details descriptive of what was committed or is just that they were DF.I know that on the outside of the envelope the name is posted and that's it.But if someone were to open the folder and look inside can they get the detailed information on that person?

When do the elders destroy such folders? Can a person who no longer wishes to come back get their records and destroy them themselves?

I dont know for sure but I think they put the reason the person was dfed and prob mitigating circumstances if thought necessary.

I believe the name of the person and the elders are on the envelope. It is supposed to be consulted in the event of reinstatement application and the original elders are no longer in the congregation. It is not open for anyone walking bye or just wanting to look at the information.

I think you would have a hard time getting your records or getting them to even admit their was records.

The envelope will contain the notes of the brothers that were on the judicial committee.

I always wondered if everything you have ever been counciled on.. stayes in the folder.. like your records at the dr's office.. just keeps getting thicker and thicker..

someone told me once if you keep moving congregations, the olders stuff gets laundered out.. but I find that hard to believe.. I would be curious to see what any 'used to be elders' have to say on the files.. since we don't personally get to see them.

There's really nothing in your records other than publishing stuff unless you've been dealt with judicially.

ONCE again it depends on the body of elders, and what they require for those who serve on JC-

    so much for UNITY-

typically it will contain a summary letter of the case that each elder reveiws and signs indicating agreement with the general context , along with ALL NOTES,

IT IS usually the notes that contain many of the details, but once again,

IT DEPEND the ELDERS WHO are on that committee

some elder take extension notes, color of her "PANTIES", ETC, others dont take hardly any notes

some elders when they send the s77 card to bethel try to include as much as they can, others on min-

the wt had a letter that stated that some records that are 5yrs old could be DESTROYED,

, BUT IN MY EXP they rarely are,

when i was sec i did, esp where someone was dead - i know how that sounds, but it is true--

techncally no one is suppose to read the letter except the orginal commmitte, if they are not availble- dead or moved. then the new guys assigned will read it

if the elders is near by he "MAYBE" asked to serve on this old commiittee even thought not being an elder

i saw it once, it was a case of business transactions that was someone legal and complicated

i think it was more due to the fact that the elders in the hall were not educated enough to handle the complicated details of that case, some stock, property and investment stuff-

    but that is rare-

if a person moves THIS FILE IS NOT MOVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1-

INSTEAD a LETTER OF INTRO IS SENT - once again DEPENDIGN ON THE ELDERS and this has always been the lynchpin in why some folks GET THE SHAFT AND OTHERS DON'T THE ELDER ARE THE KEY, BUT BARE IN MIND:

    Paducah Sun 1-28-01

Mario Moreno, associate general counsel at the church's New York headquarters,.

J.R. Brown, public affairs director for the church,

Both Brown and Moreno said that the elders, who volunteer and are essentially untrained clergy, might err in their application of a policy

SO WHAT THE HE!! DO YOU EXPECT- SMILE

but how long does stuff get kept in there? for instance if I messed up before my marriage the first time back in 1978 and although not df'd, we were in Judicial meetings over it.. My ex was dfd for Pot three times, I was in meetings for things later.. how much of that stuff is in there? is it only kept if you get dfd? what about private reproof? when you go into a Judicial Meeting and they ask if you have ever been reprimanded for sexual stuff in the past, do they already know? or are they truly wondering??

OK.. so I posted the above just as JT answered.. I guess the part where some things are not 'moved' depending on the elders is how a friend felt records could be laundered. He mentioned the letter of intro and that new records are then set up..

but according to what JT posted above, we really don't know how much and what is forwarded do we?

Fortunately I really don't care any more.. but it was an interesting topic.

Depends, have you moved or are you still in the same place. If you're still in the same place it's probably all still there.

Yeah JT, most of the time they want to keep the judicial records in case someone has another problem.
