Has anybody read this article on the Wild Beast? It is the Wild Beast and 666 on the cover.

I'm curious to know what some of your thoughts are on the article. If there is already a thread on the topic I would appreciate someone directing me to it.

I can't get the magazines any more, not going to the Kingdom Hall or having the J-dubs call on me.

So... I can only guess -- is this an April Fools issue???

I wonder if there's any new light since when I last learned that.. the beast stood for the composite body of mankind's governments, and the IMAGE of the beast is the United Nations.

Oh yeah, scratch that last part. The Watchtower wants to be a friend of the UN now.

Yes, that issue has the picture and, "666, The Mark of the Wild Beast? What Does It Mean?" This is the topic of the first 2 non-study articles. Something to grab the householder's attention, right!

    Notice these disclaimers:

"This does not mean, however, that every human ruler is a direct tool of Satan."

"Some leaders have protected fundamental human rights, including the right to engage in true worship--something that Satan does not want."

and the IMAGE of the beast is the United Nations.

The article doesn't mention anything about the UN in the two articles.

I wonder if this is damage control as a result of the UN posting "The Letter".

Sandy, that might be, but I think it is more that they are discussing the wild beast and 666 rather than the scarlet colored wild beast/image of the wild beast. They might have an article later on that. The articles are aimed at non-JWs so are fairly simplistic. They would need another article to develop the connection between the wild beast and the image of the beast. There is a footnote referring readers to Chapter 28 of the Revelation Climax book which has a segment on the image of the wild beast.

An updated "Revelation Climax" book, if honest, would show a little dressed-up Watchtower guy clinging to the leg of the image of the wild beast (the UN), saying "please, please, I need to get into your library!!"

Blondie......are you serious about that statement? It actually says that?!!!

This is a direct statement concerning the UN suggested by an attorney who was sharp enough to make this "leaders"....be easily understood to be a 'single good man', yet at the same time, pat the beast on the back should it become neccesary to deal with their past statements.

That's being chickenshit to the max folks!

Word for word, gumby my man. I marked it with a star when I first glanced through the mag because it was unusual.

    because it was unusual.

It's unusual for the statement to be made pointed at the UN for sure, (though there have been others if I remember correctly).....but not unusual Watchtower style when backpeddling to get their ass out of a sling. They have lied for over a century.....what's another one?

The WTS has had so many problems in the past with governments and WTS detractors taking exception to their strong stance against governments, even showing Satain as a puppetmaster over the governments, that they are trying to CYA. Of course, they don't specify which ones are all right. By generalizing, the WTS can give each government the idea that they are the exception.
