On What Date Did Watchtower Have THE TRUTH?

If a JW tries to gather you back to the flock or debate with you, try these questions:

On what date did the Watchtower arrive at THE TRUTH?

(A sharp JW will try to be fuzzy. Pin them down. "Did we have the truth 40 years ago? ....50? ....how far back can we go and still know that THE TRUTH was clearly arrived at?")

Has that truth remained the same since then?

(If they say the truth has remained constant but our understanding has been refined, then go back to "So WE didn't have the truth yet if we didn't understand it. Do we understand it now, or will our understanding change again?")

Just had a conversation along these lines..her line of reasoning argument was " Of course we have never understood the complete truth so it is always subject to change. As at present we know what we know but that will change again. Perhaps at the end of 1000 years, maybe, but there will always be something new to learn . The current changes do not bother me at all, just makes me more confident that we are going in the right direction"

The CO at the " God's Word is Truth " DC, defined truth.

The truth = Truthful understanding of God's Word.

    Truth:

    1) Does not change. Real truth remains truth.

    2) In the " world " truth changes. Man's predictions are often wrong.

    3) The prophets never stated probabilities or assumptions.

    4) The truth cannot contradict other " truth." Only one can be right.

    5) Truth is verifiable facts.

He also specifically used the term " New truths ." I have yet to listen to a recording of other Districts. I want to make sure I heard him correctly. So if we follow the WTBTS's own criteria for determining truth, then they NEVER had any. Even the invisible " truth " of 1914 falls apart because it cannot be verified.

1 Tim 2:5: Jesus is Mediator for whom? In prayer, "everyone". Of the new covenent, "only the anointed". Only one can be right.

Amazing. The WT's own definition nullifies their claims.

But they are too blind and arrogant to see they are actually condemning themselves because they're too focused on condemning everyone else.

Which reminds me of this WT gem:

1980: "With the appearance of the book Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God, and its comments as to how appropriate it would be for the millennial reign of Christ to parallel the seventh millennium of mans existence, considerable expectation was aroused regarding the year 1975. Unfortunately, however, along with such cautionary information, There were other statements published that implied that such realization of hopes by that year was more of a probability than a mere possibility. There were statements made then, and thereafter, stressing that this was only a possibility. It is to be regretted that these latter statements apparently overshadowed the cautionary ones and contributed to a buildup of the expectation already initiated....In saying anyone, the Watchtower included all disappointed ones of Jehovah's Witnesses, hence including persons having to do with the publication of the information that contributed to the buildup of hopes centered on that date. (Watchtower, March 15, 1980, p. 17-18)

The WT doesn't need "apostates" to eviscerate their false claims. They do a pretty damn good job all by themselves!!

It's always "the truth" until it becomes "old light," at which point JWs must forget that they ever considered it to be truth.

    Reminds me of Orwell's 1984.

THAT certainly is a good question, OTWO.

A crafty JW will answer as BluesBro was answered, that probably at the end of The Millennium and after the Final Test humans will have an "accurate knowledge" of The TRUTH. MOST JWs are nowhere near crafty.

I like to ask how many imperfect men it takes tomake a Spiritual Paradise. It's like asking how many rotten apples it takes to make Eggplant Parmesan.

    The fewer the better!
