New scrolls

In 1985 a new phrase was added to our vocabulary, "New Scrolls", complete with an explanation as to how they will benefit those who inhabit the New World. The following five references are the only quotations of this new 'teaching', but incredibly, these two words have been indelibly stamped on most people's minds by repetition from platform speakers, and in general conversation.

w85 6/15 p. 18 par. 21 "During this thousand-year judgment period, Jehovah evidently will give additional instructions, unknown to us at present, as new "scrolls" are opened. (Rev. 20:12) How marvelous it will be for the survivors of the "great tribulation" and for the resurrected dead to gain instruction and guidance from these further instructions as set forth on these unrolled "scrolls" of Jehovah and to carry them out delightfully!"

w10 4/15 p. 11 par. 17 "How will Jehovah use his holy spirit in the coming new world? That spirit will be the force behind the new scrolls that will be opened at that time. (Rev. 20:12) What will these contain? Evidently, Jehovah’s detailed requirements for us during the thousand years."

kl chap. 19 p. 185 par. 13 "There will be an extensive educational program under the direction of the King Jesus Christ and his 144,000 co rulers. New "scrolls" will then come into use. Evidently these are God’s written instructions that will serve as a basis for educating earth’s inhabitants." (Revelation 20:12)

re chap. 41 pp. 299-300 par. 15 "But during the resurrection, countless millions of studies, based on the Bible and the new scrolls, will no doubt be conducted! All of God’s people will need to become teachers and to exert themselves. Resurrected ones, as they progress, will no doubt share in this vast teaching program."

es12 p. 67 June "How will Jehovah use his holy spirit in the coming new world? That spirit will be the force behind the new scrolls that will be opened at that time. (Rev. 20:12) What will these contain? Evidently, Jehovah’s detailed requirements for us during the thousand years. Do you look forward to examining the contents of those scrolls?"

What is the truth about these "New Scrolls"? Jesus said, "Your Word is truth". So we can rely on God's Word to tell us the truth about them.

This is what Revelation 20:12 really says; "and scrolls were opened......."And the dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds."

No "new" scrolls are mentioned, therefore this is an interpolation (the insertion of new or spurious matter) and something which the angel who gave the Revelation to the apostle John, warned against - "If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll. (Rev. 22:18)

Blaspheming God's Word even further, another lie is told - that these scrolls will be opened during the 1000 year reign of Christ. Read Revelation 20:1-10. It clearly shows they are opened after Satan is destroyed - after the 1000 year reign!

To compound matters, a comparison of the Scripture and the 'given explanation' reveals a reasoning which bears absolutely no resemblance to anything in Revelation 20.

Without any explanation for doing so, the word "new" has been dropped from the very latest comment on that verse, as well as repeating the myth that dead people won't be judged for their sins; "The resurrected ones will be judged, not on the basis of what they did before they died, but on what they do when the contents of the "scrolls" mentioned in Revelation 20 are revealed." (Watchtower September 1st 2012, p. 16)

    "Test the inspired expression"

    Very interesting.

If the "scrolls" is the bible. Then have sense that the resurrected knows the laws for govern their conduct during the millennium , and be judged after the destruction of satan.

But if the opened "scrolls" are new "scrolls" opened at the end of millennium, not have sense that the ressurrected be judged for it, because they not knows it during the millenium.

I have a question: if the "scrolls" is the bible, why its need be open?, the bible is opened since 1st century.

Revelation 20:4,3 indicates that the judges begin to judge after satan is enclosed in abism.

Revelation 20:11 indicates the context after armageddon when the symbolics earth and heavens (human gobernation) go out.

Revelation 20:12 indicates that people resurrect. Then "scrolls" are opened (it will not be the bible that is opened since 1st century), and the "life scroll" is opened, and that people was judge during the millenium, according to Revelation 20:4.

Revelation 20:13 indicates more resurrections, and more judges of acts, after resurrection, according the writted in the opened scrolls.

Revelation 20:14 indicates the elimination of the death from adanic sin (hades) forever. (this implies that perfection was achieved.)

Revelation 20:15 indicates that the people that not have your name in the "life scroll" is eliminated forever.

Really, although the "new scrolls" word not appears in the revelation book, it describes that are new scrolls. the bible is opened from 1st century, since it was completed. And Revelation 20:4, 11 indicates that continuous judgments made during the millennium .

Evidently "NEW SCROLLS" is the current buzzword in WT Land about the current pestilence and the nearness of the Great Tribulation. I guess new BS is going to be coming down from the GB?

    Anyone else hearing this?

after Satan is destroyed - after the 1000 year reign!

TS: there is a pattern to wt writers trying to create a non-biblical , anti-churchy prediction about that future period. It is

Their persistent use of the Term "At the end of the 1000 years" , when scripture says: " After the 1000 years have ended" . Starting with Gen. 1:1, -- Time, and timing are not strong wt Bible track records.

    not selling, just observing.

The sort of inventive speculation you use when you do not accept the simple Bible gospel. Personally I would say the scroll of life relates to the eons where death is not yet subjected (1 Corinthians 15:26) as Revelation clearly does not portray the final state of the every end of ends

Are you trying to equate the "final state of the every end of ends" in the context of the unclean and hated bird in Rev. 18:2 ?

I don't see what connection you are trying to make between the two.

    Rubadub,

I was thinking a bit about Stephen Lett's famous statement. In my understanding Revelation deals with the first century and the new heavens and earth is the state of the Church and heaven after AD 70. Revelation 18:2 deals with the judgment upon Jerusalem. I also believe 1 Corinthians 15:26 is yet future

"New scrolls"! lol, lol, lol. Yea I can see the GB rolling out this old bullshit teaching again soon! And they, of course, will be the ones who get to write the "new scrolls".

I'm pretty sure that them there "new scrolls" will include some command to give your 'valuable things' to jehober, by way of the current GB!

    just saying!

    The Searcher,

I am with you. First Revelation 20:5 says: The rest of the dead did not come to life until the 1,000 years were ended.

And then as you pointed out the order of events is verse 10: Satan is hurled into the lake of fire. And then verses 11-15 tell what happens next: The dead are judged individually and each of them is said to stand before the throne and each then receives a judgement according to their previous deeds.

    This is very logic.

During the 1000 years occurs no resurrection. Instead the population increases by childbearing. Jesus also told that the resurrected will not marry. So it would be strange if some can marry and some can not.

Also at the end of the 1000 years Satan will be able to get a lot of followers. And they will after that be wiped out. So who would fill that space that will be left after them? Will people again reproduce, and how would these new people be tested?

No, instead the Bible says that after those rebels are wiped out, after the end of the 1000 years, the resureection of the worthy of life will happen. So those will fill the void that will be left by the rebels who followed Satan.
