South Texas Introduction
by artsteel inwow, amazing to read all these experiences.. luckily, i walked away from them 20 some odd years ago because i wasn't making it financially and decided to pursue higher education.
best decision i ever made.
i was able to finish my degrees and i still shake my head at how these people really believe, really mind boggling.. most family members and friends i knew stopped talking to me, and up to this day i'm glad they did.. .

Many, at least in my cong, have been confronted with people that tell them wearing a cross (or other symbols of their religion) is not an act of worship. That it just identifies them as catholics or whatever else they are. For many years we were told what to answer in that case and the answer was that it did not matter. That it was against God's teachings to be wearing one. Many people believed that having them would protect you spiritually. It won't be long before we hear experiences of brothers being saved because they were wearing it. No difference in my books -

Ony J.W.'s could do this and not question what is going on
by Sour Grapes inat the meeting today several elders commented about the wonderful program that they attended yesterday on the new kingdom hall designs.
they said that the new halls are going to be so beautiful with lots of windows and glass panels and that the lights will be kept on in the lobby 24/7 so that you can see into the hall at night and that thousands of these halls must be built.
then five minutes later they are talking about how close the end is and that we will be meeting in basements in the near future.

Why build new stuff if the end is so close? It was explained to us when we used our AH for the first time. This building build become educational centers for the resurrected. True story.. I wish I had recorded it -

An interesting comment given by an older brother during the prayer yesterday.
by My Name is of No Consequence ini have been a regular visitor to this site for several years now.
i never really felt the need to set up an account and post...until now.
at the close of yesterdays meeting, an older brother gave the prayer.

We have an elder in our cong that is not letting technology stop him... that is, by means of stumping down on any attempt to remark its usefulness. His first mandate, after returning from the 2014 assembly was that, despite GB member Jackson using a tablet, no one should read the bible from a tablet. The books, yes, bible no. This brother has a history, at least with me, of always taking any progress that humans have made, and shine it on negative light. He too probably feels too old for this and can't find a way to keep up. -

Is Jehova's Trumpet for real?
by StarTrekAngel inbecause regardless of having seen a lot of bad things, if true, some of the things i read there have reached new thresholds of bs.
who are these people?
i posted some comments there because i was sincerely confused as to the nature of their article.. http://jehovahstrumpet.com/brother-survives-nazi-persecution-disfellowshiped-for-smoking/.

Sorry.. my principles.. I just can't take satire and then get more satire when asked if it is satire. This is too serious for those affected by it. -

I really need to ask. Because regardless of having seen a lot of bad things, if true, some of the things I read there have reached new thresholds of BS. Who are these people? I posted some comments there because I was sincerely confused as to the nature of their article.

Does anyone have any information on lawsuits in regards to JW's victimizing the mentally ill?
by lme123 ini am a former jw, 14 years removed.
i moved out of state away from my jw family for 10 years, and currently moved back to my home town 2 years ago.
it was a great healing process for me, especially being away from all of the confusing and controversial influences i was raised with.

I was just about to start a thread to ask something similar. I just finished reading an article on Jehova's Trumpet that has left me in shock. I am actually questioning and I need to ask if that site is for real. Because I can simply not believe what I read there.
