The more we read these fantastically incredibly naive mythological stories, the sadder we are that our families/friends who are JWs can believe this ..NON...SENSE , The mind is
truly a strange thing that it can be manipulated in such a way.
(disclaimer- i know this is all fairy tales but i like to pick genesis apart since many millions still take it literally and is the foundtion of jw doctrine.
without genesis being real, the whole thing collpses).
i was just reading through genesis yesterday, and it really hit me.

being back in college after leaving the borg, one of the required classes for a degree at my college is ethics.
after learning a few things, i am curious where morality and ethics is heading for the future of humanity.
i wish i could find the source again, but several weeks ago i recalled reading a transcript of a very old document that talked about when christianity was being spread in europe, it brought civility and community.
Back in the day there was much less media instant coverage of atrocities, scandal, negative behaviour. But boy was it around .You can look back with rose colored spex but there was a lot of nasty stuff going on.
If you are saying people were moralistic because they were religious, it doesn't say much for them as people. What about their own moral compass?
It's always been my belief , treat others as you would like to be treated that doesn't need religion.
Education for all especially the young is the key. Show them how mankind benefits by tolerance, doing good.
Show them by example and historical reference what benefits their lives and the type of behaviour which is negative.
No god or religion is required.

i was watching this bbc iplayer programme on heart and mind, (which is well worth a watch if you can access where you are).
and despite how the programme starts out, it develops into a deep and touching discussion of what makes us human.. i personally was left with the feeling at odds with what i believed as a witness.
I took the time to respond to your question and gave my answer.
I note you have not responded to mine .Oh well that's being human for you.
four boe letters.
read and discuss:.
requesting where can we find answers to lifes big questions?
In otherwords,:..The printing presses are rolling, keep ordering stuff.
Make sure you all do your damdest to have a HUGE turnout for the memorial(could be the last)
Sus out all the doubters, how dare they question us!!!
I think that about sums it for me .
today we know that matter and energy are interchangeable, hence they are there always in either form, they are eternal, hence requires no creator.
hence atheism is right in rejecting a creator, but failed in providing any motivation for people to do good.
religions, in their effort to provide a motivating factor for humans to do good, introduced creation stories and other myths; hence they too are right (as far as their intention is concerned), yet failed in producing any worthy resultsworld was steadily moving from bad to worse and from worse to worst!.
Abiather , befoe the god delusion(not a ref'to dawkins)do you believ humans existed?. If so how did non belief in god (you call atheism) replace theism ?

I am responding to your question, with my own reasoning. Which comes from my brain, a very human thing to do , don't you think?
Are you convinced by this video? What about your own reasoning?.You are human after all.

Ballistic, you are moving into the realms of unrealistic!.The worm is not human!! And chopping of bits of the brain to leave a ceratain part of the brain? Now with respect you are bordering on the ridiculous .you will eventually come to the conclusion, we are human because of our brain no matter how many permutations (no pun intended)you come up with .Best wishes to you.

Jgnat, you need repeat no more.I agree about intuition(instinctive knowledge)
Ballistic, you understand by 'heart' you are referring to emotion .
Both are reliant on the BRAIN! THEREFORE BRAIN (mind) WINS.
If you disagree, on which part of the body do we rely on for these?

What is the point of the thermostat?.it is a switch senitive to heat /cold it is to operate the main function eg a boiler. The point is which is the main function which gives the desired outcome .The boiler, how the boiler is switched on is of no great importance the important thing is the boiler sensing the call for its operation. So for boiler read brain.for sensory read reaction. So the thermostat reacts to the temperature the boiler reacts to the thermostat which is only a trigger for the main event.
The question is heart vs mind what makes us human?
There is no awareness of emotion without the brain so mind wins ..In my humble opinion of course.

Intuition, reason all in the mind absolutely so what makes us human heart or mind?. Remember it's all in the mind!
