when i was a jw several brothers (ms) told me in private that the elders had asked them several times if they did not want to become an elder.
they said they rejected because it was too much responsibility for them.
were you ever approached that the boe wanted to make you an elder but you refused?
I was 3 times over the years in different congregation, I turnd it down each time. Being an ms for 20+ years was political enough, being careful witch elders you close to, witch ones to really listen to. Having to tip toeing around, when you have two elders with the god complex, and each hates the other! Not thst all the different elder bodies I worked with were like this, but enough were!

i was driving our car going to our assigned territory for our sunday field minsitry (was with jw 2 sisters) when i saw a disfellowshipped jw riding his motorcycle heading towards us.
the guy was df'd around 2 months ago only (won't delve much on his case).
approximately about 10 meters, we saw him smile.
On the was to the DC, 20 some years ago in Atlanta, i saw a car off the side of the highway, i knew the young woman was a df'ed sister. i stopped to see what was wrong. Poor girl with a 6 month old baby, she was setting in the hot sun crying! I ask what was wrong with the car, she said it just died. i spent thirty minutes working on it, and got it running. She told me, that one of the elders was behind her when the car died, and they he passed her, and gave her the most evil look she had ever seen!! And they a number of others had went to the other side of the road, so as not to even get close to her.
I have helpped other Df'ed people along the way as well, but her's was the one that has always made me MAD!!!!!!!

i went to the meeting this morning and we had some guy from overseas bethel give the public talk.
6 countries subsidize the rest.
he said in some countries all the donations that they get from contributions don't even pay the electricity bill for the branch buildings so money has to come in from these 6 richer countries.
I am supprised they have not gone to an email subricption to the wt/aw yet. The can count all kinds of copies delivered!!!!!!!

as we all know, our forum is experiencing some rather frustrating technical issues over the last week or so....( we know that simon the founder has matters in hand and is trying to sort it all out.).
but here is the real reason why problems are occuring:.
jehovahs holy spirit is obviously blocking its functioning!.
Isn't he the same one that was so large, he had to saddle his ass to go into town?
most random people who knock on the door politely introduce themselves when you open the door.. for example "hello, i'm derick from unicef and i'm looking for donations blah blah blah".
now annoying as it may be for some at least he had the courtesy to introduce himself.. why don't jw's do this?
is it because they are embarressed or perhaps they know you won't take their literature if they do?.
The official policy is still to introduce yourself, right at the start. But like someone said, not to be quick in letting people know youe orgit's. This kind of goes to the old saying, "You'll catch more flys with sugar, than saly! Or put this way, find thing to agree over, and make them feel, your normal, before letting them know, your borgit!

About 20 years ago, a long time friend of my, that had gotten me involved in a number of "MLM's", called me with a NEW program he wanted to share with me. I ask him what it was, he said, "I can't tell you. You will find out during the meeting" I told him, Ok, I will come, but if it turns out to be Amway, I will KILL you! He then said, don't come!

i was raised as a jehovahs witness.
currently i still am part of a congregation, which i gather is also the case for many who come here.
i no longer consider them god's chosen people.

The one we have now, I briefly met in Chicago back in the mid 70's. I seldom forget people I meet, the name is another thing, I can't remember mine now and then. This guys comes across as kind and caring, behind closed doors, his true personally jumps right out, hard line, hard ass!
