I will probably start voting when I start figuring out what the hell is going on. I hated politics as a dub but Euph is really into them, so I figure they have to have redeeming value. I'm starting to become more idealistic in my world view now that I'm not seeing everything through borg colored glasses. Since I believed only God could change the world, now I'm sadly lacking in any sort of political knowledge whatsoever. ...what's the difference between democrat and republican again??

LOL @ Euph & Reborn
Thanks so much you guys! It does feel really good to share this with you guys.
LOL...when I left the pavilion on Sunday with Euph, surrounded by other witnesses, I forgot myself for a moment and said out loud, "I can't wait for the apostafest...uhhh..." Luckily no one else heard me.

Taming of a Beast (Long post)

Thanks a million for posting that, Animal. I was forcing myself not to cry too (I'm in the office).
I've been working on my own healing for over 4 years and it keeps going on...I'm wondering when it's ever going to end. It is so encouraging to read your experience, that you delved in and got through it and are through it. Thank you so much.

As a witness how many could not remember your child's date of birth
by rekless ini had five kids and my wife remembered every ones dob, but i never did learn.
the most embarrassing moment was when i had to take my son to the doctors.
and standing in front of the office i had to asked him how old he was and what was his birthday.

Even as a witness, I have always made a point to remember all my friends' birthdays and acknowledge it somehow without actually saying "Happy Birthday". ;)
I have a friend who, along with her younger sister, was born at home. Her JW parents took note of her DOB and could accurately fill out the birth certificate when the time came...however, they apparently decided not to bother with the younger one. When they filled out her birth certificate, they just made up a date (they knew it was some time during this particular week...). So this poor 15 year old girl now has no idea when her birthday is, just that it was sometime that week, and rest assured it certainly doesn't make her feel important. :(

It is that time of year again.....
by caspian inyes my good friends it is september, elders all around the world are having their loving elders meetings, where they discuss coming to see you all to encourage you back to the fold.... hurrah!
returning to jehovah.
7 but may the elders themselves take any initiative in approaching a disfellowshipped person?

What musical groups or songs were bad according to JWs?
by Victorian sky inwhat songs or groups were you forbidden to listen to as a jw?
were any specifically mentioned from the platform or were you counseled not to listen to a certain song?
for me it was the entire def leopard hysteria album - bad heavy metal told it was demonic, i listened to it in secret, silk's "freak me" - a virgin listening to a song about hot sex?

At a DC here one year a teenage boy was doing a part with his father..the kid asked if he could go to a Nirvana concert and the father asked him what genre of music that was and the kid said, "Heavy metal." Then the father went into this lecture using lit. showing why we shouldn't listen to heavy metal... meanwhile I'm sitting there in the audience going, YOU IDIOT! You've just screwed Nirvana for tons of Witness kids!!!

I enjoy Tori Amos too, and while I'm not a big fan of Cher's music, I have nothing against her. But I really LOVE Björk!! :D I have 3 of her CD's.
