So Spill the Beans, Brothers: Were There More or Fewer At this Year's Bore-Fest

the jw date-worshipped memorial has just completed its bleak worldwide commemoration.

that wasn't a dust cloud you saw; it was a millionfold hearts limply beating themselves into another round of great tribulation expectations.

i was knocked into a deep, deep sleep by the imagined experience of being at several thousand consecutive kingdom halls as the platformed drones spat forth the predictable sludge that, once released, hits and stains white clothing and bleach is useless.. we know that memorial attendance worldwide has dipped for two consecutive years since 2011 when it reached a high of 19,374,737 and for the promised land, obama's usa, the all time memorial attendance high was also 2011 when it hit over 2.5million (2,563,518) but shrunk in shame back to 2,502,055 in 2012 and spluttered upwards a handful or two to 2,504,114 last year.. so, what was attendance at the date-obsessed bore-fest this year in your neck of the woods?

17% less this year and 30% less than 2011 at the cong I attended

and the no. wasn't announced from the rostrum.

Snares observation is on the money I reckon.

They are doing this in all countries as I understand.

Something similar is being done in Oz, although we aren't aware

of outside involvement but the congregations involved have been

asked to put on a bit of a gig to show the international bros

what " Aussies are all about". Congs are being asked to host either 56

or 112 delegates for a day including fs, meals in bros homes culminating

in a congregation "get together".

The day will commence 1 pm and run till around 9 pm.

This has been handled separate to any local needs,,,, we still cop the 'do more' talks.

are you in 'the truth', or are you only in 'the current understanding'?.

how long will it be before many of the current teachings peculiar to the organization are rejected as old light and relegated to watchtower's dust bin of old light, out-of-print literature to be expunged from future issues of watchtower library cd-rom?.

Great question Island Man.

It highlights the hollow clang of the overused buzz phrase "In the truth".

I for one, have been out for many years. Upon making a return to "see if it so"

for family reasons, I am coming to the conclusion that you cannot conscientiously say

you are "in the truth". You can only say you are one of jw's and your doctrine is that which

the gb decree it to be at any given time. If you are happy with that, good for you.

So then, if you want to be "in" something, you can only

honestly be in the "current understanding of 'truth'" if you like.

In reply to the second question; Many of the old truths and statements are being relegated

to the trash can as we speak. If you quote an old mag in any research and it jars with 'current understanding'

you are quickly and in no uncertain terms advised that "you need to only use the current available research data".

i see my wife being pulled into the org a little again, by some good people and kindness.

she grew up a very happy jw, and to leave is very hard for her.

but she has opened the pandoras box of her brain and can't shut it.. we were discussing blood a couple days ago.

Anyone going to see the Noah flick?

wifey says she wants to go to see the special effects.

i suspect she wants to go to see russell crowe.

if you want to see special effects watch gravity.

Ha ha, well I did it and it only cost $11.

The only resemblance it had to the bible version was that a bloke called noah with a wife and three sons was in it,

an ark was in it and there was a fair bit of water in it. Honestly, putting aside any pre-concieved notions

of what it should or could have been, it was a disappointment. Crowe performs well below his best.

I love science fiction and special effects, the movie lacked any excitement in the effects dept.

In my view, the movie might be a good tele-movie for the bored. Tell you what, the old Ten Commandments

with Chucky Heston runs rings around this movie with it's old time corny effects and all. In fact if I may suggest,

get a copy of it and watch it instead.

I wasn't robbed, I wasn't cheated. I did what I wanted to do and I enjoyed doing it. You don't have to enjoy the

movie to experience the joy of freedom............ Does that make sense?
