Well, that clarifies the OP's intent ....... refer to my first answer. Philosophy 101, begin!

Anybody have any experience with this?
by stillin inan elderly sister passed away recently.
family came to her memorial service from all over the country.
some of them, including grown-up, disfellowshipped children of hers, also came.

It's very strange that they *want* us (DF people) to come to funerals...OOPS! "memorial services" (for the 'witness', of course), but my family will dis-invite me to weddings. Oh, yes, so-and-so is getting married, but of course you can't come. Quite frankly, they want us to share their pain, but not their joy.
Let's analyze it. So, I go to the funeral home for my grampy's visitation, and my aunt rushes up and hugs me (after 15 years of shunning) "Oh, we miss you so much!"Me, stiff as a bloody board, and not returning the faux hug. "This is grampy's funeral. And if you miss me, well, my number is in the book."
For moi, it's not worth it. I would rather grieve alone than deal with the lying, emotional vampires that are JWS.xo

I was speaking philosophically, but......... after I wrote that, got to thinking about zenophobia and isolationism.
An airliner went down a few miles from here. It was carrying about 300 people, valuable art, and cash. It was an huge news story ... HUGE ... that went on for months, and years, to be honest.
Yet, 30,000 people die in India, and we get one story.
So, looking at the OP in more practical terms, I guess we can be quite egocentric. And easily led (by our parents, religions, media, corporations, etc.)

If a tree falls in the forest, and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
What if life is a dream, and our dreams are the reality?

In your opinion: What would a teacher of the English language say about the way Anthony Morris III speaks?
by LogCon inconsidering the language, wording and grammar of anthony morris iii, if a teacher on the english language, at a prestigious university were to analyze anthony's public speaking, what comments and conclusions would they come to?
i say public speaking, because i would assume that an individual would be more careful with their words when spoken in public, than in private.
serious comments would be appreciated, however, i realize that outlaw and a few others are probably on a page of their own.. .

So much for the serious analysis, LogCon. I've not heard any of the current GB, but remember Franz as fiery, screaming like Hilter, actually - and I guess some would call him charismatic. Knorr was more like your average JW speaker, giving a 'Public Talk'. He had the calm arrogance of those who inherited their money and feel entitled, whilst having neither the brains nor the personality to earn it honestly.

How many of you think.......
by punkofnice in..that the governing body are only in it for money and power?.
how many of you think the gb are all/some are sincere?.
okay, i know this has been asked before but i can't find the thread and there are newbies here.....and i like the sound of my own voice.

I watched a documentary this week. It was about psychopaths (or, my preferred term "sociopaths").
Scientists figure that about 1 - 2% of our society are sociopaths - that number is double in high-level corporate circles, which is no surprise, as the culture admires "ruthless" business people - after all, they are *successful*, RIGHT?
Perhaps these people, who administrate a large corporation, are sociopaths. They feel NO remorse, they have no concept of EMPATHY, and they are not worthy of our time wasted in discussing them. As well, I feel that they are tools of, for lack of a better term, 'the man behind the curtain'.............
As Oubliette would say, "Let's repeat, IT'S A CULT!"

I haven't seen him post on Facebook in a while, though I've not been on much myself.
Thanks, Van, for the update.
Blessings and much love sent to Dr. Penton. He is an honest man, and was the only source for me when I left the JWS, before WWW and the internet. I say "honest" because his father was a 'higher'up' in the b'Org, and he had the courage, way back then, to go against a 3/4th gen family. I respect the hell out of him.

May I suggest that you turn off the TV and if you're on Facebook, turn to your nature groups! It's D-Day and there is a lot of stories that are triggering you.
I *do* believe that, and have been missing my Aunt SO MUCH the past couple of weeks, for a personal reason, but you know what?
She is in my heart - she is encouraging me, and saying "I will be with you". Also, I choose to celebrate the fact that I was always good to her, and she to me. I celebrate her strength, and draw on it some days. It's okay, you'll figure it out. (HUGS)

40 years on - and still in Damage Control mode!
by Bungi Bill inearlier this morning, i posted off to the the institute of engineers an application for membership as an "engineering associate":.
- today being just over 40 years since the congregation's retards elders made me abandon my apprenticeship.. (in this part of the world, the pre-1975 hype was taken to that level.
not being content to prevent young persons attending university, they went one step further and treated with hostility any youngster who would "tie up five years of their lives" by entering into an apprenticeship.

s this the fruit of evolution? Is this what lurkers should look forward to? Dark days in sad thought with no hope?
I see no benefit to atheism.Ah, you need to work on your reading comprehension.
This thread is about betrayal, and the loss of one's faith in the "One True Organization", NOT atheism or loss of faith in God.
