  I, too, have a lot of cousins, and 2 aunts in BC. But I'm in Nova Scotia.

  what if there were no such things as arabic numerals (0123456789)?.

  Finally sent that letter, but not to mom...

  no not that letter.. so we hobbled along with the family relationship.

  my parents (super-devout, highly involved and connected in jw-land,) spoke with me occasionally with that sad mopey voice.

  at one point about 6 years ago, my mom quit speaking to me.

  I think that is a fair statement. Making that choice, and taking that step, knowing that the consequences may be severe, is what takes it out of the safety realm.

  That was a brave and necessary thing to do. I wrote a similar letter almost two years ago. Not a word since, but yeah, the relief is enormous~!

  Marriage outside the religion punishable?

  now i know they have always discouraged marrying outside of their so called 'truth' but since when has it been a punishable offense?

  my sister recently married and they are discussing wether her being married to an outsider will stumble others and if they need to reprove or disfellowship her for it..

  Oh, well, she's still a believer, and they have already let her get away with so much?

  I wouldn't be too worried..... she is an experienced double-lifer who knows how to manipulate the system. These folks usually land on their feet.
