"Compa" sounds very spanish, like "compadre" (fella?)... Well I have many cousins and my auntie that currently living in BC, Canada...

Yes, that's what it is, actually. So not really compatriots, but compadres. :)
I, too, have a lot of cousins, and 2 aunts in BC. But I'm in Nova Scotia.
