Did you KNOW Ray and Cynthia or the legal copyright holder? Only a few maybe had limited contact.
by blondie ini have known all of them over the last 15 years, talked at length with them, and knew what their wishes were, the copyright holder and spouse spent even more time with them socially and helping them set up their arrangements for when ray and cynthia passed.
i don't believe that anyone else on this board or others was a confidant.
there is no need to prove it to anyone but the copyright office which is satisfied with this.

"Even if it isn't the truth, it's still the best way to live"
by Simon inhave you heard that old chestnut?
i have.. typically it's the last resort when you have dismantled a jws beliefs and they have no way of defending them.
they know they are beat so they come out with that one.. its effectively an admission that you are right and they have no argument but they are still going to attend meetings because they like the social club.. what a lame way to defend your faith..

DY - The fact is, that if you only socialize with 'work friends', you are not choosing friends by common interest. You are in another forced situation. It can't be compared to having the freedom to associate freely with people we may personally relate to, and can be found in special interest clubs, the gym, volunteering jobs, and yes, at work..
Magnum - You think the JWS live a more 'moral' lifestyle, really? Did your fingers just type that? They are no different - smokers, tons of alcoholics, drug users, and adulterers - they just hide it, and hang out in their own little cliques. Secret's safe with them! The 'good' JWS often have not a clue of what's really going on.

i also find it very self-righteous and egotistical. They like to pretend that the only honest and good people on the planet are JWS. In fact, they are the same as everyone else - good, bad and indifferent. xx -

To the OP:
You could try the Universalist Unitarian Church - they are ecumenical; so much so, that even atheists can belong. They have a church here, and are very community-oriented, and a nice bunch of folks.
I don't attend any church, nor do I want to. If you're looking for community, and whatever you mean by 'spiritual', one of those, the UU's might fit.
Their Seven Principles:
- 1st Principle: The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
- 2nd Principle: Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
- 3rd Principle: Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
- 4th Principle: A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
- 5th Principle: The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
- 6th Principle: The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
- 7th Principle: Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

D-D ... actually, that was real.
http://www.livescience.com/27354-cameron-video-analysis-new-species.html
When movie director James Cameron dove to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean early last year, he and his team captured hours of video of strange new deep sea life. Today, a researcher is giving a peek into this bizarre new world, presenting preliminary findings based on analysis on reams of footage from the so-called Deepsea Challenge expedition.
One of the strangest new finds is a sea cucumber seen in the Challenger Deep, the deepest spot in the world's oceans at approximately 36,000 feet (11 kilometers) below the surface, said Natalya Gallo, a doctoral student and researcher at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego. This new sea cucumber is almost certainly a new species, and lives in large numbers at this deep spot, Gallo told OurAmazingPlanet.
The research has likely revealed a second previously unknown species, a type of squid worm, Gallo said. These wormy animals are several inches long and live in the mid-water, above the sea floor, she said. "When you first see it, it looks like a squid because it has all of these modified feeding appendages," she said. Until actual physical specimens are collected, however, the new species won't be able to be definitely recorded, she added. [Images: James Cameron's Historic Deep-Sea Dive]
Video has also revealed the presence of giant single-celled amoebas called xenophyophores — bizarre creatures that are among the biggest cells known to humans — near the Challenger Deep, Gallo said. -

Fidel Castro and the WT
by Hecce ini am going to engage on a trip to the past and share with you some of the matters that marked the beginning of the jws persecution in cuba.
you will be surprised that the pattern that was followed is very similar to what happened in other dictatorial countries.. in the cuban case, i am going to surprise you and tell you that like what happened with hitler; the wt was partially responsible for their clash and confrontation with the cuban government.
during the early 60s the revolution was fighting for survival and they were willing and ready to demolish any perceived enemy to their cause.. a prime example was their war against the catholic church that was the most influential religious entity in the country; it took the supreme leader only a few public discourses to send the vast majority of clergy packing and back to their country, in this case spain.. the jehovah’s witnesses were an insignificant minority but they over estimated their importance and displayed a belligerent attitude, it was known that this was a us based religion and an easy target to connect them with the cia.

Since Americans are unable to visit Cuba (or were for a LONG time), i'd be interested to hear about what happened with the JWS in Cuba. I'm sure that Castro did not kow-tow to them like the USA does to every crazy cult on the planet (religious freedom, etc.).
I've heard lots about Cuba, and the people, what it's like there, from friends who vacation there. (I'm Canadian, so we have no problem with Cuba.) But they are not, and never have been JWS. So, I've heard nothing ... no news from Cuba ... about the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Tell! : )edit: I want to hear about this:
The case went badly for the WT due to the fact the Government was able to show that the WT was just a publishing house and that they were never registered as anything else, certainly not a religion.
