YMCA ? Are we allowed to go there or not?
by Quarterback inhalf of our congregation goes there to work out because of the good pool facilities and prices, and the other half think that it's wrong due to it's old charter.
but no one is enforcing the wrong or right of it.
i'd be interested in knowing how this is being applied worldwide.

I remember, back in the day, they whispered that is where the homosexuals gathered! The locker rooms were full of them. *rolls eyes* Satan and his deemunz, of course, love that. -

Impact of the Royal Commission of Inquiry on JW policies and procedures
by steve2 inthe royal commission is not yet over.
the summary of findings on jws is not the end of the story.
the legal process is unfolding and the only open question is the extent to which jw organization in australia will be legally mandated to change its policies and procedures on child sexual abuse.. (on the question of shunning those who leave, the commission is well intended but has strayed beyond its legal brief.

I think that Steven Unthank created an awareness that 'something is not right about those JWS', and the ARC came in with perfect timing. It's my understanding as well, that Australian folk are outspoken and would not try to cover this type of thing up - religion doesn't have the stranglehold on governments 'down-under', or in any of the Commonwealth nations, that it has in the USA.

When reading the Submission, I felt the Commission found it deeply disturbing that the victim was forced to testify in the presence of her (or his) rapist, and three other men! with NO support permitted. All people are disgusted by this - and the ones I have told over the years, were outraged. It's chilling, truly chilling.
Thanks for posting some highlights.

What I really meant is that they (JWS) have a different type of spirituality - they virtually have none. They are more like drones, than passionate adherents.
It's hard to put into words. But I would agree that you are 'smitten', and nothing wrong with that. Eyes wide open, and watch out for the love bombing; ie, don't let it fool you.
All the best,

just get the day pass once a year to take my girls to "halloween horror night" at a local amusement park. Bus ride, dinner and drinks. That shouldn't stumble anyone, should it?
AHAHAHAHA, like this?

Thanks, TGND. I would guess that, as it does with many things, enforcement varies from region to region.

I know that my parents were disapproving of my Y membership, but that was 4 or 5 years ago. As far as they were concerned, membership was still verboten.
I never saw any JWS at the Y where I work out for many years - it's the only one in town (closed last year, and building a new one).
