with craigslist and a couple of bucks from a few members we can help terry get moving.
does anyone have any ideas how we can do a "theists for terry" bike fund raiser and challenge the atheists to a bucket-head challenge?
I think that with the gazillion people on the site now, the good old days are gone. *Today* will be the good old days in 10 years or so. :))
Edit: Also, I think that social media is providing a place where folks are meeting their friends, and it's a natural thing that JWN may be more of a starting point for folks to meet. Then they move on to Facebook, or G+, email, whatever.
Many folks were around long before me, but it sure has exploded with membership since the late 00s.

I think it's a great idea - Terry is one of the few people who gives, gives, gives .......... and hey, think of it as "Secret Santa", a bit early. We used to do Secret Santa here ..... ah, the good old days. *grins*

i am now an athiest myself, but i think being an athiest its a bit like having a faith.
some get very hooked on it and "preash" others (like me) simply get with with there lifes.
i am sure that some athiests like to have discussions about the non existence of " god" in a similar way that "thisists" do about the existence of god.

You are correct. Many times, I have seen other ppl on this site, who are atheists, say that education will 'cure' a belief in G*d. Anyone who says that, is being intellectually dishonest (ie, they are LIARS).
Though I don't understand it, I know that many highly educated people are believers. It's all nonsense to me (religion, and belief in a deity), but I understand that some folks feel a need for a higher power, and accept their way of dealing with life. Arguing with those people who are hell-bent on destroying others' belief systems, instead of letting them be, is a waste of time.

Like your thoughts ........ I've never believed in a G*d, so have always been an atheist. For me, part of that way of being, means I have an open mind.
Do we have a consciousness that will continue as energy? I dunno, but I'm open to the possibility. Or maybe not even a consciousness - maybe there ARE alternate universes, and we merely end life in *this* one, while we continue on in another.
That is the beauty of non-belief - the possibilities are limitless, and science has yet to explain a lot ........ so keep wondering, be open to the universe's potential, and most of all, I would say...........
BE your own self, enjoy life, and let others choose their OWN path. Who cares? If people need to believe in a G*d, let them ... maybe it is their 'coping mechanism' for life. *shrugs*

well, i just couldn't hold it in anymore.. today, i exploded, talking to my mother about the family inheritance and how i am being screwed.. i told her i had been so angry lately, and just had to tell her what i was thinking, because the anger was slipping out at times, and i was making snide anti-jw comments .... which is not my way.
i'm usually quite direct.. i told her that i couldn't take being treated like a piece of dog you-know-what on the bottom of someone's shoe any longer.. that in the past couple of years, i had learned so much filth about the jws that i was getting more and more disgusted day by day.. i started shouting ... there is nothing wrong with me!!!
why do i have to be shunned when they hide child molesters???.

Aunt Fancy, yes, it has been an ordeal. I really feel, though, that is was my body saying "ENOUGH" .......... I've been under incredible stress the past 5 years, and in a lot of pain. haha, i REFUSE to let ANYTHING 'break' me, and I think my body finally decided to tell my mind/psyche "okay, I am going to make you sick, so you HAVE to get help." or something like that ........... I'm much better now, and only get the weakness once in a while, so just know that it's my mental strength that will heal me!

so by the same extention i don't believe any spirit beings can communicate with or influence humans.. many who do not believe in god though, have gone to fortune tellers.
