i toured wallkill in the last month; the tour guide stated, in very clear terms, that the wt leadership is "sending home" many older couples and older ones, and replacing them with younger ones as they need to.

he did say it was because their experience was of more use in the field.

I think this is true.. My sister and her husband were one of the couples that lives at an assembly hall and "care-takes" it and dealt with the trucks from ny, etc. When he died she had to vacate the apartment; you know that even though she was the one running things, she was a sister and they couldn't allow her to stay. (said with sarcasm). She's been "blessed" with the "priviledge" of special pioneering and gets a small stipend as well as health care coverage. I wonder if they're doing this for all the ones being asked to leave and if so, how long it will continue; it's got to be expensive.

this photo (taken from a jw group on aol) is quite typical of jw marriage matches.

don't get me wrong, i'm sure they are great people as far as jws go.

but, it made me think.

I'm curious, did any of you get the "flim flam" in marriage? Did you regret who you married? If you could go back, would you suffer the shame and marry "out of the truth?"

Yes; yes big time; I would have waited a very long time to marry if at all.

The last tug of trained fear.

i was wondering if anyone here could remember their last tug of fear in their stomach after they left the watchtower society, concerning armageddon coming where you may have had a moments regret or fear of not being a jw, and so you wouldnt be "saved".

you know, the stupid conditioning we as jw children received growing up as jw kids.

i realize this may seem like kind of a weird question, but i remember my moment, and going through that experience it was very a freeing feeling once i came through it on the other end.. i was visiting a church in about the 1984 time frame.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned 9/11. It got to my ex-husband so badly that he couldn't work for a couple of weeks. His current wife phoned me to ask me what to do for him! He couldn't stop shaking, and I mean for days. He was literally sick thinking the big A was going to get him. (What does that say about his conscience?)

I've had my moments, especially thinking of my kids, but am mostly over the fear.

Dub email exchange r.e. Crackdown on outside food in D.C.

i for a while discounted the reports that suggested there were stern warnings against bringing in outside food and drink into the conventions.

but this email exchange from a few of my relatives concerning tim horton's coffee, which is a basic staple for the dub ministry in canada, shows that they don't mind adding any more regulations to their already extensive list!

(so far, i'm still on their email list) .

He said they were only human and can't read hearts. My question is that they say elders are spirit appointed so what happened here? And for how many years?! You can only have it one way!

Everyone doesn't live up to their calling? They have a "calling?"

He said if you were a wrongdoer, "in a few months we'd" catch up with you, that's why we keep the congregations small; we keep up with everyone." (probably not exact quotes) So what happened here; it was going on for more than a few months?

He talked about "pastorial" help, used the not-real-work unequivocably, we're not "adverse" to... As a spokesman, the wts should at least find someone with a command of the language; geez...

He looks like someone we had as a district overseer briefly in the detroit area but I've been told he didn't serve in the area.

So, God took a long time to clear this up, and he used the government to do it. Doesn't make any sense, does it?
