From 1 to 10, how do you rate the value of the Internet in your awakening?
by Hidden-Window inas we all know, the internet is a real game-changer in allowing us to know the truth about the watch tower and its history.
i always had doubts and it was the internet that presented me with the ever-growing number of individuals who were going through a similar struggle.. i give the internet a 9 in my awakening.
what about you?.

Unbaptized Publisher
by naazira inwhat would you recommend for an unbaptized publisher that has learned ttatt and is inactive?
do you think it is best for someone to just continue to be inactive and live & let live?
or take time and write a letter wishing to no longer be an unbaptized publisher?.

Pretty much the dip into the pool counts, and without the baptism, you are not worth of JWs effort. Move on with your life and pretend that never happened.

Does Anyone Watch Ascension?
by jw07 inthis new series' pilot episode is the perfect allegory for the blind faith of the average person in the jw movement, those who deny that anything 'immoral' or sinister happens within the ranks, the double lives, doubters, and towards the end of the episode, an example of how the governing body controls persons' lives.
check it out and tell me if you saw all the parallels.
i think it's my new favourite show.. http://tv-series.me/2014/12/15/ascension-s1e1-season-1-episode-1/.

What were the calculations used to arrive at the 1874 date of Christ's return?
by Zoos inwe all know the calculations used by the wt to arrive at 1914. fall of babylon in 607 (false year), gentile times, no zero year, ta-da, 1914.. what did they use before that?
i know it wasn't russell who came up with it - he just adopted it.
i'm just curious what they had to explain away when they made the transition.. .

Russell put Portugal for reason because it was a part of Roman empire. But since the 1755 earthquake, Portugal cased to be any significant European power and remained a such until this day. In the time of Russell writting, there were other European nations much powerfull and wealthier than Portugal that did not make the to the horns. Somewhere I read explanation on Austria-Hungary that both were part of Roman empire in the past (Noricum & Pannonia) and Vienna was a last capital of the Holy Roman Empire. Two years after Russell's death, Austria-Hungary, which was until 1918 second largest empire in Europe in land and third most populous after Russia and Germany, disintegrated and disappeared in history...

My father did, he decided after 1975 BS and studying for years with my JW aunt to stay catholic and eventually moved to his mom, my grandmother who cared of him until he died (yeah, she survived him by several years), without ever divorcing.

Every generation of Xtians believed that they were the last one and that their years are something special prior the end of the times. History is full of these examples where baptised fools insisted that Christ's kingdom is at the sight. When Alaric sacked Rome in 410, majority of Xtians saw it the symbol of the upcoming Jesus rule as they could not imagine world without Roman power. Thousands of refuges fled to Jerusalem to await Jesus return and millions of more around the known world seen sign everywhere. Alaric died, Roman collapse did not end the world, and Christ had not returned. Augustine wrote hsi monumenal work of City of God that he pushed the invisible presence into Jesus rule in the heaven. Similar mass hysterias happened with the collapse of Frankish Empire or 999. Thousands of literature was written in these 20 centuries to explain the end as proof of the divine inspiration of NT. Another 20 centuries will pass and Xtians will recycle the same nonsense.

Vidiot, you are correct on this one. Russell was probably never seriously challenged intellectually with his beliefs, because he continued to spew a lot of nonsense for his time which could be verified by theology, history, archology, and scholary research. He alone admitted at the court that he did not know Greek, so he was self studied preacher who was inventing stuff as he continued to write. His writting has many logical gaps, but this did not hinder him to be the most successful preacher/charlatan of his times. He believed that Portugal and Austria-Hungary were one of the horns of the beast and the abbyss was a period of imprisonment of Pope Pious VI by Napoleon. Russell borrowed some shit from 7DA, who held these views. He was hardly original.

The best way to debate JW's without being labeled an apostate
by cookiemaster inhey guys!
here's what i found to be the best way (for me at least) to debate jw's without earning the laber of apostate.
this is mostly valid when debating jw's that don't know you personally, but it could help with those that do too.

The best way to debate with JWs is using their own literature, but this still does not guarantee any result. Even self bible study could be seen as a heresy and majority of JWs are not even aware what is written there, but they will know their own crap from the WT and Awake without making any connection. I found that debating bible with JWs relatives is pointless, but they get lost when you use their own brochures to point nonsense in their teaching. However, they may still insist that old light is apostate and people were DFs for using old teaching or uphelding in their beliefs. For JWs is not important what bible says or what WT published 10-15-25 years ago, but momentary doctrines and loyalty to FDS.

After Six Months of Hiatus, I can tell you the Watchtower is Starting to Crumble Faster than you think!
by SanLuisObispoTruthSeeker ini took a hiatus from jwn because the wall started to collapse because i lost several people ive known almost my entire life.
these were people i thought would never die, the lies told by the watchtower is unforgivable!
there was a party i attended keeping a low profile while documenting what was said.

WT is not crumbling, but is rebranding. WT would prefer smaller, but loyal pack of followers, who would venerate the leadership and secure well off livelihood. They can care less if they have 10 millions members who are lukewarm to their ideology, but they care about having core that will ensure their survival. WT is a totalitarian organization. In totalitarian regimes, the government does not care much about annoymous masses, but cares about the grassroot of the loyal supporters. When WT is becoming larger, and diverse, it is harder to control people on global scale.
