I am personally skeptical. It been 30 years since CoC and nothing had shaked the organization. Cult is still strong with millions of followers. There were always unhappy people in the high ranks of WT since its foundation and there was always power struggle. I find it funny when people talk about inner awakening, when these people have the same access to the same tool and the same bible as many of us who jump the ship years ago. What they were doing? Holding into the rope of the WT and awaiting for Kingdom to come after all these decades and 100+ years of nonsense? Also there were always appologists who were DF and still think that WT is the "Truth" and they seem themselves as another Issiah or Jeremiah on mission reforming WT or even turning it into more crazy cult.

Problem with many JWs are like donkey following the carrot stick and they will never figure out that they been decieved and worship false, man-made religion. Some do weake up, but many will stay in the cult until they die waiting for a reward that will never come.

Why Do Witnesses Promote A Unhealthy Lifestyle, My COBE weighs 340lbs (5ft 7in).
by BucketShopBill inplease don't take this the wrong way if your battling weight problems, that's not what this thread is meant to talk about.
i am asking this question because jehovah's witnesses claim they have "the best way of life", "god's blessing", "the truth" and are trying to change the habits of healthy people by turning them in to their own makings.
i watched people who were great athletes turn all their muscle in to fat because we would get a elder or circuit overseer make remarks they were spending too much time "working out" and "bodily training is beneficial for little".

When I did field service with elders, we did hiked a lot through the mountains and woods to go from village to village. In the woods we shared different biblical verses and things about life. However, my fanatical JW aunt did not liked it and complained that we waste too much time in between villages and do not use bus to cut a time. I knew JWs who go to countryside by car, spread out through village, meet in couple hours, drive to another.. no movement required. They move less than tranquilized turtle.

World at war: Just 11 countries free of conflict
by insidetheKH inwith the crisis in gaza, the rise of islamist militants in iraq and syria and the international stand-off ongoing in ukraine, it can sometimes feel like the whole world is at war.. but experts believe this is actually almost universally the case, according to a think-tank which produces one of the world's leading measures of "global peacefulness" - and things are only going to get worse.. it may make for bleak reading, but of the 162 countries covered by the institute for economics and peace's (iep's) latest study, just 11 were not involved in conflict of one kind or another.. worse still, the world as a whole has been getting incrementally less peaceful every year since 2007 - sharply bucking a trend that had seen a global move away from conflict since the end of the second world war.. the uk, as an example, is relatively free from internal conflict, making it easy to fall to thinking it exists in a state of peace.. but recent involvement in foreign fighting in the likes of afghanistan, as well as a fairly high state of militarisation, means britain actually scores quite poorly on the 2014 global peace index, coming 47th overall.. .

I kinda looked into the text and artickle and it is rather stupid. 11 countries they meniotned were Qatar and Vietnam, both which have strained relationships and internal problems. Qatar and Iran do not like each other, and Vietnam has disputes with China over territores back from the 1970's. Blue countries were pretty much all NATO block, which exception of Slovenia and UK have not experienced a war in past 50 years.

Persecution in Russia. Poland next.
by FadeToBlack inthe wife got back from the meeting last night and told me they watched some video from jw.org about persection in russia.
lots of discussion at the hall about poland being next after ukraine.
she told me she was not going to sign anything renouncing her faith even if she had to go to prison.

Nonsense comparison. Poland is EU member and vital ally of USA and one the most important state in NATO. Polish society went through deep liberalization process where religion plays lesser role than it did 20-30 years ago. Younger population is generally secular mirroring trends in Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Baltics. There is no whatsoever demand nor need for suppressing JW faith there as freedom of religion is guaranteed by constitution. Russia and Poland are two opposite countries, where Poland is significant roadblock for Russian expansion westward. Russia is turning into totalitarian state, and will immitate recreation of USSR whatever cost. JWs and other non-traditional churches in Russia facing persecution for a while, but again comparing Poland and Russia requires really crazy mind.
Prologos, yes, Russia is on march and if they will not stop, they will be marching westward. However, they did not expect Ukraine to put a fight and defend its country rom invasion.

Serious problems with Gospel of John, and his Revelation
by Pinku in1) john presents a jesus who is totally different from other gospels.
2) johns claim of jesus being partial to him undermines jesuss own teaching (mathew 5:44-48).
3) johns claim of first miracle (changing the water into wine) and the last (or most spectacular) miracle of resurrecting lazarus are not known to earlier gospel writers---something impossible for them to miss!.

There are research done on analysis of Revelation claiming that it was written during the Jewish Revolt, other before that or after. Some scholars also claim that Revelation was written in batches over the years by more than one author, where first a few chapters were written before 66AD and other were added 20-30 years later. I had read several of these cases without having any persuasive opinion on which view is correct. I read E. Pagels book as well. I got always feeling that author of Revelation was against Paul base on Rev 2:2: " I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. "

What my mother should have done.
by LovelyEunie inthis is somewhat of a rant but every time i think of it it just pisses me off.. .
i never understood why my mom would never switch to another hall or whatever when she knew how i was treated by the people who were supposedly the 'best' association around.
my older sister also, because neither of us really had any jw friends because for whatever reason i guess we were pegged as the baddies because our dad wasn't witness (still isn't) and my mother stayed sick a lot so she wasn't able to do half of whatever was required.. .

LovelyEunie, I would recommend leaving her and start your onw life and family. The cult is desctructive and is not good for you. Tell her why are you leaving and tell her she will not continue such behavior to you anymore. You are 22 and you can be on your own, get job, school, and do not worry about her's abuse.

LisaRose, you are absolutely right. You can be DFs even when you question some actions on elders. I knew case when a person agreed with a speech of CO while elderds did not and that person was DFs with word that it is not important what CO had to say at the convention, but what WT say is true. I also know a case when a guy insisted on JC to go over specific doctrine with a bible and elders disagreed. He was booted out from the cult right there to his very big suprise.

We used to have an elder who was body builder and than turned into bolding, expanding blob with own graviational pull. Other elder was about 5.8" and was well over 300 pounds by age 30. Generally lack of health concern among JW is profound as they believe that New world will fix everything. Many of them dying too young from cancer and other diseases that could be preventible or treatable. In my old KH in Czech Republic significant portion of women died around age 50 from various cancer diseases leaving children behind. There is a huge difference when you see Sunday mass in local catholic village church where you see dozen or so old women past 85, while in KH they barely made it to 65. I do not think any elders or male in my old KH made past 75.

The King of the North is getting Angry...
by rhodesboy inthis topic is of a theological nature.
if you have some scriptural insight, please share.
grievances are not welcome!.

Nobody knowns who was the king of the North, but probably during the author time it meant Seleucid empire that was north of Judea. There is no any future message from a writer who is more than 2000 years dead.
