Years ago, when I was in a JW Book Study, one brother was a literal tyrant to his young 3-4 year old son. If the child so much as squirmed during the study, the brother would take him to the back room and spank him. At the time I considered it to be child abuse. Fast forward about about 16 years. Guess what? That son is now about 20, has rejected the Witness religion, grown long hair and a beard, etc. So I'm told that his actions are now preventing the tyrant father from becoming an Elder. HA HA!!! What goes around, comes around! Good for the young man for giving a big 'Screw You!!! ' to his idiot Dad.

I Offer You This Choice
by simon17 insuppose the following choice were offered you, and you had to choose one or the other.
which would you pick (and perhaps why):.
1) you can continue living your life as it is, die when you might, and that's that.. 2) you can instead agree to die in 1 year in exchange for this: you will be granted access to the entire past and future history of intelligent life in the universe.

I would choose option #2. Living for only one year longer is a small price to pay given that I would know all the secrets of the Universe. Compared to living a few extra years and then dying in ignorance, it's an easy choice for me.

Not invited to my nephews wedding
by outforever inknew that this would be the case - so not surprised.
quite happy to not go - as i would not like to see my mother / or my big sister at all.
this nephew is my small sisters son - my small sister and myself are very close - she does not go to the meetings anymore for quite a while now, her eyes have been opened.

I would personally never speak to a JW, whether relative or not, who shunned me, didn't invite me to weddings, funerals, family get-togethers, etc. Just because THEY have a later change of heart and decide I am 'OK', I am not going to forgive them or associate with them. They made their bed, now let them lie in it!! Maybe my attitude is unfair, but that's the way I see it. Once they choose to shun me, it's goodbye forever from my perspective. Family included! Screw them and their silly religion!!

How many Isaiah's prophecies of chapter 19 were fulfilled?
by opusdei1972 ini have read the chapter 19 of isaiah, which scholars of high criticism believe to be authentic, of isaiah himself.
in this chapter there are more than one prophecy for egypt.
my question is, how many of them you found fullfilled and unfulfilled?....

I always knew the Bible and the Watchtower were both filled with total nonsense, and all this rubbish proves my point without a doubt. Grow up, People, and learn to live in present time. Time to view the Bible as the silly old book it is.

Any Educated Guesses...........??
by sparky1 ina friend of mine is trying the 'slow fade' like i did.
he is a third generation witness and comes from a prominent family in his circuit.
his uncle stepped down as an elder because he had doubts and could not serve anymore (although for now he remains a witness in good standing).

I predict that Anthony Morris (The Turd )'s stupidity will come back to bite him in the ass one day soon. Most megalomaniacs sooner or later end up crashing and burning. It won't surprise me in the least if he is arrested in a public men's restroom getting it on with a young male prostitute. We can only hope!!!

ELDER LIES AND GET'S PRAISED FOR IT! FALSE ACCUSATIONS AGAINST ME!
by BucketShopBill inwant to know how a lie can turn into a compliment?
only in the jw mindset!!!.
we got called into the dreaded back room after meeting to find two elders wanting to discuss a 'serious' matter with us.

One simple way to deflect this sort of thing is to just tell the Elders when they 'invite' you to the back room: 'I'm afraid I have nothing to discuss with you. Should that change I will let you know immediately'. Repeat as necessary. Of course, the REAL solution is to just walk out and never come back. You really don't need some sub-par IQ elders butting into your personal affairs. Just LEAVE!!!

Several years ago, I was studying with a Witness MS. He related a story about a Witness who was supposedly seen by 'someone' smoking a cigarette in a restaurant. Well, he said it turned out the offending Witness was eating a CHEESE STICK which the busybody assumed was a cigarette. That is about when I decided that JWs were officially nuts.

Delusional E-mail from my dad.. So sad

I tend to agree with the previous posts, it sounds like there is nothing that will wake them up. They obviously get emotional satisfaction from being JWs. Why spend your time fruitlessly trying to Change them? Go ahead and live your life according to your own beliefs. At least you woke up at an early age. No need to rock the boat trying to influence your parents.

I once visited a Mennonite family near San Diego. They lived in a rather typical suburban house. They had cars, and seemingly most modern conveniences. The males of the household ( father and teenage sons) all wore beards and long-sleeve shirts. They conducted a religious service in their living room. They seemed to be very sincere and pleasant folks. After the service, they invited me to their back yard where I joined them in picking figs. I took home a nice box of figs and found the experience quite educational. In retrospect, they seemed a lot less brainwashed than the typical JW. That was my one and only experience with Mennonites.
