After so many years of NOT having a life as a JW, I'm doing alot more living in the present, but I still plan for the future with regard to my career and finances. Having those relatively secure should make 'living for today' more enjoyable for a much longer time. But I'm no longer putting my life on hold, and am starting to do things I neglected when I was a JW.

although i'm in my early 40's, i still didn't get grey hair yet.
i may find one or two gray hairs once in a while, but not more.
same thing with the beard.
That's it! I can't take it anymore. This thread keeps reminding me of my grey hair. I'm gonna color it tomorrow!

ap - more and more people are succumbing to so called "technology addictions," spending hours tapping on mobile phones or surfing the internet, one of britain's best known psychiatric clinics said on saturday.
"there has been a huge rise in behavioral addictions," including excessive texting, said a spokeswoman for the priory clinic which treats 6,000 patients a year for a range of addictions including gambling, eating disorders and drugs.
in the sunday telegraph newspaper the head of the clinic's addictions unit said some patients were spending up to seven hours a day text messaging.
I get online about 6 am every day to check out the board and text message friends. Depending on how busy it is at work, I'll spend a fair bit of time online as well. And again when I get home from work until about 1 am, sometimes longer. I do plenty of other things too, like read, take courses, watch hockey, go out to bars, camping, hiking, fishing, etc. But I spend alot of time online. I don't think I'm addicted to the internet or anything like that. I just like communicating with my friends. If I meet up with them in person I hardly even think about being online.
So maybe I'm addicted to my buddies!

since i was raised a witness, it was only as i got older that i started to "think" about what i was teaching and believing.
but even as a young teen, i never accepted the thought that 1975 was going to be the end of the "system of things" and the beginning of the "new system".
i just didn't quite believe that.........what belief or teaching did you have a "hard time swallowing"?
I could never accept the idea that all mankind had to suffer all kinds of atrocities for thousands of years just because 2 people ate some fruit. Where's the justice in that?
