Pettygrudger, you left in the fall of '83? Too bad I didn't know you then. I was just on my way in at that time. Talking to you could have saved me alot of trouble.
I've just been out a few months.

i have been thinking a lot since i posted my experience about leaving the troof.
if you haven't read it already, it's here:.

I read your experience and found it very similar to my own. I sent them my DA letter in June. When I think about it now, I wish I sent it to all the witnesses I knew, so they could know why I was leaving. Consider sending your letter to all the dubs you know, as it may serve as a wake up call to someone. If it makes even one person think twice about staying in the borg, it's worth it.

the 'flock' book (elders manual) makes this quite clear and upon arriving at your judicial hearing one of the first questions you will be asked is whether you have any recording/transmitting equipment with you.. however, most jw's will have never seen - or even heard of - the 'flock' book.
do a search on the wt cd on recording meetings and you will see that it all pertains to the recording of meetings at the kingdom hall and conventions and that any brother wishing to make such recordings is free to do so so long as the recording equipment is not attached to the society's equipment.
the one question of propriety that is raised has to do with recording prayers.
I made it a point to record every meeting they had with me. If they asked me if I had any recording devices, I said no. According to one watchtower article, I didn't have to give them information they were not entitled to. Theocratic warefare, right? What were they going to do, strip search me? Let 'em try!!!

hi,.
just noticed on nbc's site.. http://www.nbc.com/coupling/.
I hardly ever watch television, and I can't remember the last time I saw a sitcom. The only things I watch with any regularity are hockey and the Simpsons. I enjoy some doccumentaries too.

I deal with over 400 people where I work, and I have trouble remembering names. Everyone knows mine though. I can remember their IP addresses more easily than I can remember their names. I walk through the halls and people come up and say "Hi Walter" and I wonder "Who the hell are you???" Their faces are familiar, but I have trouble placing names to the faces. I've been there for almost 3 years now, and it's getting embarassing. Someone can tell me their name and I forget it within 5 minutes! It must be because I spent 20 years as a dub, and met too many householders, and people all began to look and sound the same. (having been a dub is a convenient place to put the blame)
I remember some names by associating personality traits with the person's name. For example:
Hutton has a love of hard core porn, so I remember him as 'Hard Core Hut'. Then there's 'Prissy Patti', 'Homely Hans', and 'Dippy Dale'.
But I can't do that for over 400 people. Does anyone else have trouble remembering names? Do you have any techniques to help you to remember names?
