  grrrrrrr...I am about to lose it..Re: My Parents

  so...even before i left my parents arranged with the mother of my kids to fly her up and back and didn't tell me.

  i am about to blow my stack and am not very happy after getting off the phone.

  gadget was nice enough to let me use the phone to call them and let them know i loved them and missed them.

  having worked with kids for years, I'm gonna tell you what any social worker or childcare worker would tell you. Never, ever let anyone around your kids alone who will not respect your wishes as a parent. It's detrimental to your children in the extreme to see their parents will subverted. Tell them from now on they have supervised visitation w/ their frandchildren. To be supervised by you or a person of YOUR choice. Period.

  They are toxic and will probably be that way till the day they die. (sorry)

  If things are as you say, maybe enough is enough. But only you can decide the right course of action. If your parents do not wish to play by your rules, then get some people in there that will enforce them while having a 'visit'. (at your parents expense, of course) I would tell them that maybe one day, when they can respect you as a human being, and listen to you, maybe the supervised visits can stop.

  What Was The Attitude Toward Men, Women , Children & Elderly In Your Hall?

  we had some interesting views toward these groups.

  we had a number of intelligent strong minded sisters in our congregation.

  they were "in subjection" to the elders.

  Shamus, if it were not for a few of your types that kept an eye on the elderly and provided assistance, no one would help them. You can't such deserving ones while you're pioneering----gotta get your time in! I was in a congregation years ago that prided irself in pioneering for a day, week, month and eternity. Forgetabout anything else. The Circuit Overseer loved us! our Hall was always on the assembly parts

  I pioneered while doing that. It was nothing but 1 hour out of my week. There is no excuse for neglecting the elderly.

  Do JW really spy on people in the congregation?

  do elders or any other members of a congregation actively spy on others?

  is this encouraged if so?

  If someone blocked me in my driveway, I would have gotten out, slashed the tires of the vehicle, and called the police. If the fool stayed outside the vehicle, his ass would be grass. I would pound him while waiting for the police.

  Would it be legal? Maybe, probably not. Who cares? I would do it anyways. When someone takes away my freedom, all bets are off. I wouldn't even care if I had to pay for the tires or any damages... (sounds like a Judge Judy episode...)

  Wow, that story actually got a rise out of me.

  It is well known that in modern society many people who are treated for depression are simply those who know truth, and the depression is a natural phase of grief for death.

  So you're saying that I suffer from depression because I know that I am going to die one day. So thinking about dying one day makes one feel suicidal.

  You're wrong, wrong wrong. If these sources are well know, then please do elaborate. More common myths of depression rise up. My father tells me to snap out of it.

  you know, i never had a clue why people did this.

  it's not like kingdom halls in different cities look different.

  they just have a different shape, a different shaped yard, trees in different locations, and some had that car stop thingy which stopped you from getting wet.

  I think the answer was already in the question.

  No, according to the fictional bible, 'Jesus' did not care about the little things. He rebuked the pharisees for plucking the straw out of they're fellow man's eye, when they had a rafter hanging out of theirs!

  That is why the witnesses are dead wrong. They worry about little things, although they would never admit it to an outside source.

  just wondering what exactly americans (u.s.a) are taught about their country in school .do you really salute a flag, do you swear allegiance to the country.

  are you taught that you fought for freedom, and that america is the land of the free, etc etc?

  I don't see democracy as free, either. It isn't perfect, but that's the way that things are. Better than having a dictator, no?

  I thuroughly hate how you either get party A) Liberal or B) Conservative... er whatever... . So to those who think there is a better way, please let us know, and get crackin! To just sit and pout does nothing to solve issues.

  And I really don't think that many people here claim to be very "educated". If everyone needs to go to University to just live in a democracy then I guess things are pretty well screwed to the hilt.

  American media does give the impression that America does see itself as superiour?

  I don't think that all Americans think that. Some do... but those are just the arrogant ones. Those kinds of people are everywhere in society, not just in America. I have climbing buddies who are from the states, and know that they have this 'stigma' attached to them.

  How much is the media's fault? That is where I feel the problem is.

  America is a 'free democracy'. If the people in America feel that things must be changed, then they will change them. It takes time for these changes to occur, though. It does not happen overnight.

  The real problem is how America presents itself in the world front, IMO. I am not at all saying that I could do a better job than the president, so I will leave it at that. It would probably be a lot better off if it would just keep out of the middle east, but I am no political scientist, or whatever the bleep... nations that stand by while things go wrong get blamed; nations that help get blamed. America will always have these problems while it is a 'superpower' in the world scene.
