I recall the "AAWA" scandal from about a decade ago. I've always thought of this slob as having the maturity of a teenager who is going out of his way to be noticed. At the end of the day, he was everything the Watchtower ever could have hoped for. A prominent opposer outed as a pervert is now being used as a tool of the WT to stereotype all former JWs as liars who are absolutely devoid of morals.

Good evening Kim,
Thank you for the nice post! Also, big thanks for having the guts to stand up for what you believe in!!! It took lots of guts to do what you did, so I'm a fan.
Lloyd had no qualifications, no experience, hadn’t been out of the borg long at that point, clearly made provable errors yet people continued to believe him and thanking him for the “valuable information” - even over the qualified/fact driven proof.
It is easy for someone who has no idea about the subject he is
lecturingTalking about, sure I understand that, but why did they listen to his “brand of facts” over that of others?I'm not an expert in any pertinent psychological/psychiatric discipline, so I can only answer from my own experience. I think a lot of folks come to these ex-jw forums because they've experienced emotional trauma as a result of their exposure to the JWs. As a likely result of their emotional trauma, they have a propensity to pursue any avenue to express their anger against the WT, or otherwise lash out, and a much lesser ability/drive to question others who are lashing out / attacking the same enemy. They abandon their objectivity in satisfaction of their drive to settle a score with the WT.
Remember, many of the folks in these forums were gullible enough to become JWs as adults. P.T. Barnum said it best, "there's one born every minute."

Yeah, imagine conceding a point to someone who does NOT have any special legal background ... said the man with no special legal background.
As this thread reveals, I called out Cedars for posting BS 10 years ago. My opinion of him at that time was that he was a grifter. My opinion of him hasn't changed much, but it certainly has gotten worse.
I haven't posted on this site in quite a few years. I hope everyone is doing well and especially Simon and his family. Simon, you deserve a lot of credit for keeping this site going all these years. Thank you for all that you have done (and sacrificed) on behalf of the ex-JW community!

wt on education..
by zeb ini have just watched the glass smashing on the wt video on education.. please consider these experiences from the opposite side of that "coin".. i have heard young ones say out-loud on the mike in the kh that "jehovah is my special friend.."these ones who were at the top of the wt 'tree' pioneering, putting in the hours etc but, it followed that soon saying that pivotal statement they dropped their pioneering, faded, picked up the girl/boyfriend and suffered being dfd.. so where did their wt "education" leave them?
it left them as young adults naive to the world, unskilled, with no qualification to offer any employer and having to replace their former family/associates/friends with new ones.. ( dont get me going on shunning) in some cases with little success as we have read here where they moon about for months or longer unable to emotionally heal after the leaving or df'ing and also others with such a turn around they would never have believed it possible... there was a wt that related how a brother (!
) followed an interest in history and left the truth.

Education increases the likelihood that one will break away from this organization. This has a negative effect on cash flow, hence the Society's aversion to it. It's always about the money, and the organization is skilled at controlling its worker bees.

JW's arrogant as f...?!
by Alostpuppydog inhas anybody else noticed that almost all the jdubs are super arrogant?
i mean even from just the basic ones to especially the elders and the overseers omg.

BS. I'll be the last to support the Watchtower, but stereotyping all JWs as "arrogant" is wrong. Although I've been out of the "Truth" for more than 3 decades, I've maintained contacts with several JWS, and "arrogant" is not an adjective I would use to describe any of them. Rather than labeling them in a negative way, simply because I disagree with their religious views, I prefer to look at them as very nice people whose religious beliefs are substantially different than mine.

Why is it so hurtful to be shunned? Why object to it?
by stuckinarut2 init seems like many feel hurt or saddened by the practice of shunning by witnesses.. yes, when ones who we were close to, perhaps family or ones we thought were close friends choose to follow the warped directions of the society, it may seem hurtful.. but really, our reaction is up to us.
the fact is, these ones have shown that in reality, their love for us was never real or genuine.
no, those relationships were superficial and lacking in substance.

Shunning thrives on the power you give it. Ignore the shunners, eventually they will beg you for attention. -

Did you get " Counseled " about the Music you Listened to While you were a JW ?
by flipper infrom the time i was a small boy - i loved rock n' roll music.
beatles, rolling stones, led zeppelin, hendrix.
i started getting slighted for the music i listened to as i lay in my bedroom listening on headphones to led zeppelin's song " black dog " at age 14 with my elder dad looking suspiciously at me as i'm rocking out .

I give the Watchtower credit for introducing me to punk rock. Back in the mid 1970s, a special meeting was held to warn parents about the horrible new phenomenon of punk rock. A film strip was shown with images of the Sex Pistols. I had never heard of them before, but when the JWs advised that they are famous for singing about hate, while spitting, peeing, and puking on their audiences, I had their "Never Mind the Bullocks" album the next day. Of course, like the rest of the JW lies, the Pistols did not pee, spit, or vomit on their audience, so I was a bit disappointed as a rebellious teenager. I loved them and still enjoy their music from time to time. -

I'm confident it will be more hollow words. "We have 'contained' ISIS such that they can only attack us here, on our soil."
