You're still very young. Try to keep the focus but don't wait too long. The longer you wait, the more difficult going back will become.

I'd be in my final year of nursing school if I didn't quit
by Younglove1999 inabout 3 years i decided enough of being "content" with the fact that i had a decent job, if i was going to work, i wanted to do something that i loved.
i've always wanted to get into medicine.
but being that i was 23, married, owned a home, worked full time and never went to college, it wasn't going to work out for me to just enter into college and then proceed onto medical school.

ANNOUNCEMENT: "Special" Awake! for November. Confidential ;-)
by BFD ini was asked to post this by a paranoid jwder.
i'm an elder and have stated as much on this board.
call me paranoid, but i'd rather not stick my head up and say "hey bethel monitors, come after this guy!

This really smacks of Paranoia. Do they really think this is Confidential Material?

New RBC arrangements/directives
by bud2114 ini joined awhile back and haven't posted much - just lurking like many others.
for the past year or so i have been trying my best to fade away sooner rather than later, but the wife and most of our family have decades of involvement in this mess and well, it's difficult.
little by little i have been sowing seeds of doubt and it does seem to be working somewhat.

Oh My!! This is Worse than the Mafia. I imagine the Congregations are also required to take out loans for these inflated estimates with the WTBS. It's too bad the JWs can't see through this. Even after the loans are paid off the WTBS still owns the Property.

Is the "marking" policy of the Society defunct or still officially used?
by yaddayadda inin my over 30 years as a jw, i honestly can't recall ever hearing about anyone who was being officially "marked" pursuant to the society's "marking" policy based on 2 thess 3:14. .
in fact, i havn't read anything about their strange "marking" policy in years.
this makes me wonder if the society still has confidence in it and still officially endorses it?

I think my family was marked by some of the stuffy JWs.
I allowed my children to bring homework and storybooks to the meetings. If they were tired, they were permitted to sleep. My boys were permitted to wear their hair longer than the standard JW style when they were teenagers.
For some reason, I still had a large group of sisters who thoroughy enjoyed my viewpoints on raising children. Unfortunatly their husbands pulled my husband aside telling him to keep me in line.

I think perhaps you might consider using this period of time doing some research about this Religion. Afterall they seem to consider you "Dfed and Damned for Life" as you say. A good place to start would be to get the book "Crisis of Conscience." It is a lovingly written book by Ray Franz ~ You have every right and obligation as a Christian to "Make Sure of All Things" ~

Strange. I know at least TWO Elders who dumped their JW Wives and married another Sister. For a short time, the elder and the other woman was disfellowshipped or Reproved (I don't remember which) but within a Year these guys were in Power as Elders once again.

About four years ago I had a similar telephone with my JW Son. My heart sunk when he said "Mom, I'm not supposed to talk with you anymore" ~ My reply to him was "I forgive you because you don't know what you're doing" ~ I'd already been out for about 16 years and we had a very close relationship up until that time. I have a strong feeling the Watchtower is becoming more strict with Jehovah's Witnesses.
Here's what get's me through the hurt:
First and foremost. I realize I can't control the Behavior of Others; I can only control my own actions.
I tell myself, "Just because my son doesn't love me the way I want to be loved, it doesn't me he doesn't love me"
Finally, I communicate with him in a variety of ways. For example, I wrote him a letter on his birthday this past May. I essentially talked about when he was a little boy and shared memories.
