Generally, any mass-market video game has plenty of web sites devoted to hints, cheats, etc. Based on a quick google, it looks like there's plenty of answers out there for ya.

The status of women in early Christianity
by Leolaia inthe watchtower society maintains a very strict gender dichotomy in its organization.
this is news to no one.
although men -- in many cases, unqualified men -- are expected to reach for advancement within local congregations (e.g.

Fascinating essay, Leolaia! I was aware of of the broad sketch of facts you discussed but not the details, or many of the connections you made. Thanks for posting that.

What instruments are in your attic?
by LittleToe inhaving just had a conversation about musical instruments, i came to the conclusion that 90% of them end up in disuse, maybe even in the attic.
what do you have stored away?.
i have a chanter (the musical part of the bagpipes), recorder, two violins and a penny whistle, hiding somewhere.

Obviously that's where his wife stores it now.

Elders will not marry couple
by Nosferatu inmy mother has a friend in another congregation.
she has been dating, and is wanting to marry.
here's where the "problem" comes in.... the guy is 20, she is 33. the elders have decided that they should interfere.

As others stated, what the couple wnats to do is entirely within JW rules. They need to know their rights here; appeal to the CO or Bethel if necessary. It's true they might make enemies of the local elders by doing that; but it sounds like they already have.
There are enough stupid rules in the organization with the local elders having to make up their own.

Sexual orientation proven genetic
by drwtsn32 inthe evidence is compelling!.

sexuality determined by nature or nurture?

Okay, I'm going to go into nitpick mode, please pardon me. Just a couple of nits:
1. Establishing that sexual orientation can be altered genetically does not prove that sexual orientation is always genetic. The environment could conceivably alter or harden the genetic preference.
2. This is an area where research on humans and on flies does have very significant differences. Human sexual desire is, to a great degree, psychologically mediated. Human fetishes and sexual preferences are undoubtedly affected by environment; I doubt that's the case for flies. So this research can't be used to rule out the effect of environment, when it wasn't even a factor in the study.
That said, I think it's likely that sexual orientation is largely--or perhaps even exclusively--genetic. And I do think this is an interesting and groundbreaking study. But I think a lot more research is needed before we can make definitive statements.

I'm telling lies from the stage
by DannyBloem ini recently gave a public talk, and i really felt bad about it.. it was the public talk about the great flood of noahs days.
the is so much evidence that this great deluge never happened, but that is something you can't tell the audience from the stage.
(i will tell about that evidence if people are interested, but it is a bit off-topic now).

Danny... I have a lot of sympathy for where you're at. The time that I spent inside the WTS, trying to pretend that I believed, just for the sake of family, was the absolute worst time of my life. When I finally left, despite all the pain of lost family and friendships, it was a major relief.
I'm not saying you need to leave if that's not what you want to do, of course. But in my experience, 'faking it' just doesn't work well in the long run.
Either way, staying or going, there's going to be pain. Please be assured that you have many sympathetic listening ears on this site, who've been exactly where you are.

Another article I saw had a quote from the Indiana Family Research Council; they're a conservative Christian organization, but even they agreed that the parents had the right to raise the child in the religion of their choice. No one agrees with this judge (thankfully).

According to the post directly above yours, Stilla:
Friday, after a day of rich spiritual food those in attendance were presented with yet another cheap tract based upon the "All Suffering Soon to End" talk.
They were presented with yet another of one of the Soceity's 224 page soft cover cheaply made booklets entitled "what does the Bible Really Teach".
I would be interested in more details, especially about the book.
