What instruments are in your attic?

Having just had a conversation about musical instruments, I came to the conclusion that 90% of them end up in disuse, maybe even in the attic. What do you have stored away?

I have a Chanter (the musical part of the bagpipes), recorder, two violins and a penny whistle, hiding somewhere. Somewhere there was a guitar, too...

Nothing now, but before we moved from Illinois, we had a mandoline, a banjo, and a guitar in the basement. My parents and dumped them off on us and they weren't in good condition at all.

Unfortunately, I never learned to play, so I wasn't motivated to get them fixed up. We ended up selling them in a yard sale.

Tucked away for the last 5 years were my acoustic and my 'lectric guitars (kinda hard to learn to play that way)...just recently pulled them out again with best of intentions...

In the attic of my mind however are a good many instruments I have found beautiful and intriguing and desirable over the years but could never purchase...and memories of the piano I grew up dinking around on, purchased for my mother by a long-term resident of the local mental hospital who appreciated her coming to see him...

    1 six string bass guitar

    1 synthesizer

1 clasical guitar (in very poor repair)

1 very old & small organ, the kind where the volume decreases the more notes you play, because the sound is produced by an electric pump blowing air through reeds.

Looks like your theory is right.

    ig.

Hmmmm, there is a violin and guitar in the corner next to the TV. A chanter in the garage...Steve was going to learn about 12 years ago. Zoe has a child sized accoustic guitar that I store under my bed (otherwise the neighborhood kids try to get into it). We have two trumpets, one silver the other a silver pocket trumpet (did that sound funny to anyone else?) in the hall closet.

Steve is going to get back into gigging (trumpet) in the fall and I'm going to sign the kids up for guitar lessons this summer.

I have a lot of irons in the fire at the moment, maybe I'll take up that violin next spring.....

    LT,

In 1967 I went hiking in Northumberland with a brand new Martin guitar strapped to me like a Siamese twang. I was alone as is my custom when I hike. When I reached a little town called Rothbury I decided to slumber by a stream in the middle of a huge rhodendron forest just outside the town. I admit I was a little heady at the time ( Newcastle Brown - - I am still hung-over thirty years later ) but managed to wander off and leave my guitar.

I had only gone a half mile and realized I was a little lighter and hacked my way back into the forest. Despite searching for hours I was never able to find the guitar. Anybody finding it will be blessed in the afterlife with six virgins, each called Martin.

It is not in my attic - but it should be.
