Will my pet lion die?
by peacedog inhey just wondering, when i get my pet lion in the new system,tm am i going to have to suffer the loss of my beloved pet?.
i recently lost my pet and being an animal lover, let me tell you, i took it pretty hard.
lots of "tears" along with plenty of "mourning" and "outcry" and "pain"... .

I think it's funny how animals will die because that's how Jehovah made them, but humans die because of sin.
So yes, your pet lion will most certainly die. But you will understand that Jehovah created them that way, and will not mourn the loss of your beloved pet. When you are perfect, you have no feelings.

Slightly weird mess-up by the Society...service meeting part
by sir82 inif there's one thing the society loves, it is punctuality and regularity.. every year for at least the past 30 years, without fail, you could set your atomic clock by it, what is the primary topic of the 1st service meeting in january?.
you find out where and when your district convention will be that year.. so, looking at the december km, sure enough, there is an insert covering the usual topics (don't save seats, arrive on time, spit out your gum, don't pee in the hotel pool, etc.)..
but wait a minute!

The Corniest, Cheesewad Songs You Can Possibly Come Up With
by AllTimeJeff infolks, i need a break from politics and jw's.... so i thought i would come up with a fun thread before hitting the hay.... (disclaimer: i barely know what fun is.
i go by if it makes me smile.

That's not very secret, is it? ;)
I guess I'll join this year. I like the fun of shopping for unique crap, and most of the time I'll throw in something completely personalized.
Oh yeah, and as per the last few years, if you don't post your wishlist, you get JW LITERATURE! Someone successfully received a lovely Revelation book from me a few years ago.

I've been debating whether or not to participate this year. I like buying gifts for people and this year things are financially better for me. But as for my wishlist, I like the craziest crap and my actual CD wishlist is almost all stuff NOBODY can find.
Maybe if you beg me, I'll participate ;)

I don't defrag my system anymore. It doesn't need it and it's always zippy. I use the ext3 file system.

Hey long time no see!!! I'm a JWD old timer lol
by Sirona ini used to post here...a lot!.
just thought i'd say hello to you all...you wonderful people who got out of the jw cult!
i have come to believe that we are an amazing bunch of people - we made our way despite all the odds and fought for individuality - and won.. even today i was told that going back to the hall would solve my problems (by a jw family member) and i honestly can say that i felt amusement.

"What should you do when directed to stop preaching?" KM question box
by slimboyfat inwe had that question as an item in the service meeting tonight.
the answer was that we should comply immediately whether it is a police officer or just a caretaker of a block of flats who asks us to stop.
we shouldn't answer back or dispute the issue.

What happened to having faith in Jehovah that he would stand behind his people? I thought Jehovah would be proud if his people stand up when they're faced with persecution. Perhaps children should just stand up and sing with the rest of the class when the national anthem comes on, simply because they were asked to.
The WTS is becoming a shell of it's former self. They seem to be doing a slow transformation into a mainstream religion. If they got rid of disfellowshipping and started celebrating holidays, they may be able to keep more members.

Is it worth upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7?
by nicolaou ini'm running vista home premium on my dell inspiron.
dell custom build to your requirements and i went for 4gb of ram from the start (almost 2 years ago).
i know vista has been much maligned but honestly, i've had no problems with it.

one other thing I should mention is WIN 7 has been optimized for SDD in the use of a drive cleaning
program called TRIM, this is what I mention before about you never have to worry about Defragging any more.I haven't had to worry about defragging for the last 2 years since I moved to Linux. My system was one of the first that shipped pre-installed with Vista. I wiped it off and dual booted Linux with Win2K. I only use Windows for one app. Other than that, I've been a full-time Linux user. While everyone was crying about their slow unstable PCs running vista (and let's not forget about all the virus scares), I've been running the smoothest OS I've ever used.
Windows 7 may be 100% better than Vista, but you still get Windows Genuine Advantage (or whatever they call it now), many Windows-compatible viruses, the need to run Anti-virus and Anti-spyware software (which slows down your system and isn't guaranteed to catch everything), and the inevitable cost of purchasing the OS. I don't miss any of this and won't be 'upgrading' to it. Besides, Linux with Compiz still looks way better :)
