well, after years of indecision and inability to settle into any real career, i have finally decided on a viable, meaningful one for me; and it's one that has endless potential (for work, at least).
i am doing research now and will probably take some courses and apply for sbc grants to start my own small-scale recycling business.
i already have a few potential clients in the people for whom i currently work, and will hopefully have references and other clients from them.
Sounds like a good plan, I hope it goes really well for you!
I'm scandalized by the waste I see daily
I feel the same way.. I was completely aghast to learn that my inlaws don't recycle at all! They even have recycling services included in their trash pick-up but don't take advantage of it. They live in a state that has a bottle return program.. 5 cents a bottle.. and they were throwing out beer bottles and pepsi cans 'til another relative, who lives close to them, asked if they would please save them for him. I hate watching them throw their daily newspaper in the trash.. drives me nuts! But I get along with them otherwise.. and I don't want to spoil that by raising a stink over their calous disreguard for the planet.. so I keep my mouth shut

stars in hollywood are my favorites.. i don't get it.
because we are not even speaking the same language
I don't have an answer for you, Sailor. I wish I did. I think Darfur does need help.. that doesn't mean I think the US should go.. but I don't like the idea of just sitting by as a nation saying "would somebody deal with that" I don't know enough about the political situation in Darfur to make an informed opinion on what should be done. All I have seen is the media hype on how aweful the situation is, and I really shouldn't base my opinion on emotional propaganda. I don't think we were justified in going to Iraq, though, so maybe I'm not the best person to comment.
I think the answer to your question might be that there isn't one? I'm sure that every government has it's "justifications" for taking military action, and I think each situation is so different that we each have to individualy decide how we feel about it.. as long as they don't reinstate the draft it is then up to the individual to decide if they want to get involved. I know that's over simplifying.. and that a certain passive aggresive individual won't like any of it... but that is the best answer my poor unevolved brain can come up with

This is from a pacifist? Nice!! That entire post was hate filled.. take a few deep breaths or something.
the rest of the fucking liberated world to address real complexities
Just out of curiosity.. which compexities are those?
You seem to have a problem with US citizens.. might I call it a prejudice? I happen to agree that the US is wasting time and money policing the rest of the world and should focus on internal issues.. but I'm sure you lump me in with all US citizens.. since we are obviously all exactly the same.. Just like I'm sure all Canadians think just like you do... no individuality left in the world, we are all judged by our governments actions.
I noticed you want the US to "finish" in Iraq... are you sure we shouldn't leave now and let Canada finish for us? Maybe we should have left Iraq alone to start with, but it sure is considerate of you to let us finish.
Attacking sailor ripley for expressing his views was way out of line.. get a grip
