in the same way that cohabiting unmarried heterosexual Christians reconcile their life with scripture... very few christians I know take the Bible literally or accept all it's edicts. I guess gay Christians just ignore or reinterpret the few scriptures that appear to discriminate against them.

Can being gay live in harmony with being a christian?
by digderidoo ini have looked at the thread about gay marriages in california and thought about asking this question there, but instead of hi-jacking that one i thought i would ask it here.
there seems to be quite a few gay people on this site and i wonder how many class themselves as christian?
if so, can being gay live in harmony with being a christian?.

The End of Circuit Overseers
by scotsman inis indeed apparently nigh as another poster predicted along with the end of the weekly bs.
not sure when this should take place but i'm reliably informed by a family member that one of the uk's overseers was talking about it fairly recently.
reduced to weekend visits by an outside but local elder instead.. i have no further info..

Get a grip folks! We need something called proof.
Anyone got any???Such as? lol I edited my initial post as I didn't want the source of the conversation identified, so who going to post anything more definite. We're apostates seeker, we can't ever provide "proof". But I do love reading the dizzyying hypotheses that have resulted!

Are They Really Going Mainstream?
by WTWizard ini have seen a number of threads lately that suggest the washtowel slaveholdery is making moves toward going mainstream.
notice a few examples.
the stand on people that are incorrigible being the only ones that are going to die at armageddon is one cited fact that people are pointing to.

OK, they're not going to become the established church with the monarch as titular head but... I look at the folk I've left behind and they have fulltime jobs, decent houses, new cars and foreign holidays. The time spent at meetings is about to get less and in this part of the world pioneering is not nearly like it was in the 70s & 80s.
Yes they still have crackpot beliefs - specifically blood and shunning - but their lives seem significantly less alternative than they were some time ago. They seem... diluted. By money and a few wordly friends.

Kudos to you, I couldn't remember where I'd read the suggestion, sorry for not giving you credit. Perhaps you should morph into 'seerboyfat'

Change is what the org does. I'm always rather suprised at the excitement on here. the IBSA/WTBTS has continually mutated in belief and structure just as most religions have. Their own book (can't recall the name of it) charts it. So it's not a sign of the end of the religion, just them adapting to the times/technology/economy.
I've always been suprised that the district conventions have continued when they could make model talks with good speakers and pop them on a dvd to be watched at circuit sized events. the districts are a nightmare logistically and unneccessary expense.

my thoughts - i see no mass sacking just a gradual retirement and implementation of new scheme. They struggle for temp COs round my way. It'll be JWlite and more mainstreaming in my opinion.

Glad that everyone's taking it as speculation. I thought I'd run the forecast by my JW relative today to see what they thought and their response was immediate confirmation but that's not guarantee it'll happen this year.
Hello bethel, I'm sure you're reading. (I'd wave at you if there was an appropriate emoticon)

I would prefer my children to die than to have them Df'd
by lilyflor ini was still in the "troof" a couple of years ago when my mom said that to my face, in front of my husband no less.. he was a jw as well, he couldn't believe it.
my reply was "well i will give my life to save my children and if god sees fit to punish me for that - that's his choice".

A few years ago when it became known that another Witness family had a gay son, my mother said she would rather I was dead than gay. This was obviously a bit of a dart to the heart for me and when I eventually left the JWs and came out I did ask her if she'd rather I were dead. Initially the answer was yes, but as time has passed she doesn't think that but thinks I should enjoy my life to the max as I'll soon be destroyed. She probably figures I wouldn't get a resurrection now anyway as I've sinned against the holy spirit. lol.
