Karaoke Contests - Rant
by Nosferatu ini've just recently entered into (another) karaoke contest.
i've been in quite a few, but have never placed first despite the fact that i can usually wow an audience.
the thing is, i've mostly seen women win these things.

Att: ex-Elders and Their Kids: Did You Really Have a Regular Family Study?
by Room 215 infriends, this is a sort of poll, directed mainly at -- but not limited to --ex-elders, their wives and kids.
it was my impression that, with the possible exception of meaningful personal prayer, the other aspect of the idealized, exemplary jw lifestyle that was portrayed at the assemblies and at meetings-- the regular, weekly family bible study -- was the one most neglected.
it seemed to be something the ``other" spiritual family did and the one thing we constantly agreed we ``needed to work on.".

I feel stressed just reading (and thinking) of those who went through this.
Those mags are an insult to anyone over the age of 5. If anyone thinks they are "meat" they truly are braindead from reading too much of it
Really....or maybe just plain braindead.
I've tried many times, yet could never get through a whole issue. Just plain too boring for me. "Get to the point"
I couldn't believe they were asking people to prepare in advance for the familly study of the watchtower, which meant that by sunday you had gone through the material 3 times. And plus when you received it you had to read it.
LOL @ flower. I hear ya, those little africans who had no car, would walk days, would bring extra clothes so they could change after they had to swim across a muddy treaturous pirahna infested river, just so they could get to the spiritual feast....Oh what love they had for the truth.
To answer the question, in five years, about two family studies. I guess I wasn't spiritual enough, that's why I'm not in the truth anymore.

Multiple boards/Multiple personalities?
by JH in.
going from board to board i notice how certain people who post will be so different on other board, while some don't change their style.. do you change your personality or style when you post on other boards and try to fit in and be accepted there, or do remain yourself no matter where you post?

I joined this board earlier this year and I do not visit other boards. A few years back I'd visit H2O, but can't even remember what my handle was there. To me this is pretty much the ex-jw site, and I basically lurk here just to see which stupidities the watchtower will perform next. Like the way they handled the Vicky case, now that burned me up pretty bad.
After many heated debates on the current war in Iraq, to which I was seriously opposed, I had thought of registering under a different persona, simply cause I realized people saw me differently than what I really am. I could've played the game but I chose not to, what I said is what I believe. At the time I could see, and couldn't believe the US government was going to put us in a position where we were going to be hated by the rest of the world and I was fighting seriously for that to not happen. But then again who am I? In a way I wish I would've kept my mouth shut, I would have less enemies that way. But I'm not that good of an ass kisser.
BTW, I am not anti american, I'm anti capitalist. There's quite a difference. Just as I see the watchtower as ruthless hypocrit capitalists in regards to the Vicky case, so I saw the top US officials taking advantage of a situation to line their pockets.
So my suggestion to those who lurk and might wish to register, be fluffy, very fluffy in your comments, otherwise you might end up looking for another board or persona.

Ouija Board - Does It Really Work?
by Black Man in.
so..........have you ever played with one?
and if you have, what happened?

Playing ouija board was for a while a daily event at our house, many years before our contact with witnesses. One evening, my sister and a friend were playing with the board, I was there just watching (about 12 years old). A lot of stuff was said but at one point it made a remark about me to which I struck the pointer and it landed on the floor. It didn't want to talk anymore, so the question was asked why? It said it wouldn't work as long as I was in the room, so I left and it worked. After a few minutes I walked into the room, it stopped, I did this a few times, so it was agreed that I would stay out. Finally I sat on the floor next to the door, just outside the room. Next to the door was a big chair, and from there my sister or her friend couldn't see me. I would just put the tip of my finger through the door, and it would stop. I did this a few times just to annoy my sister and her friend cause everytime it would stop.
My sister, who at the time had no motive to prove it was demons or not, will attest to the fact that the conversations were getting more and more sexual, to the point where she says she was harassed sexually by a spirit one night (ask her), the reason why the board was thrown out. Of course when we became witnesses we attributed all this to demons, but at the time it did scare the shit out of her.
I really don't know if it's just the imagination that drives this thing, could be. And my sister's testimony? I don't know either. But the question remains for me, how the hell did it (or they) know I was putting my finger in the room.

EL was a Canaanite High God, represented by a Bull... which is simply discarded as a pagan symbol nowadays. BETH - EL means House of El.
So Bethel means "house of bull"....well, they got that right when they named that place.

Stunning new field ministry technology shocks Witnesses
by Mindchild innowadays, most congregations would love some extra help to cover their territories and someone who actually shows up for theocratic ministry school assignments.
our 2003 brother and sister multifunction robots fit the bill quite nicely, thanks.
don't want to get out of bed on saturday morning to go door to door?

It's not fornication (by bible standards) but you could end up with a serious case of heavy metal poisoning, which in turns gives you good enough reasons to use your robot to replace you for your theocratic duties.
If you read the manual , it does suggest using a super anti tear condom. Those female versions of the robot can have razor sharp edges and will vibrate excessively during orgasm. Proper precautions are recommended.

Things in life that are unfair

what are some of the things you encounter in life that you feel is unfair?.

Read that Jim. Yeah that sucks, and fits the thread. Hope you can at least sell it. There are stupid little wars going on between both countries, all the result of trading (ex: beef, softwood, ect). Why there's even a border is beyond me. We are the same people.

Now that was a low blow and you did good to give them a piece of your mind, especially closing the account. assholes!
Saving money has nothing to do with banks. Buy her a small safe and tell her to put her savings in it, away from the hands of greedy capitalists such as bankers. That way she'll always have access to her money, otherwise she might wake up someday with the bankers claiming her money for themselves. Besides, the interest they pay is not even worth the effort of dealing with them.
