I've been thinking over night about how I would reply to you so I'm going to give you a bit of advise from a person who has just recently left after 4 decades in the religion. I'm so glad that when I left that I had never married in the religion. Leaving was a heavy burden for me and I am absolutely convinced if a spouse and kids had also been involved it would of put me in a psychiatric ward. Every day I have to carry with me what I know and in some ways I wish I hadn't gone down this road. But what I know is done and cannot be reversed . Even though I'm not married to a JDub because I still have family (it would break my father's heart if he knew how i felt) and financial ties I'm forced to keep my mouth shut and suffer in silence. This is an example of a case I read on here just recently and if anyone has the link please include it. Young girl (mid 20s) who although never a witness had family connections and decided to join the religion. After a year or so of studying decided to marry her boyfriend - and probably a guy she wouldn't of married had it not been for the religion. Making spiritual progress and almost to the point of baptism when the bomb shell drops and decides to research the religion on the internet. So here she is married to guy who she probably wouldn't of and finds out that the religion isn't what it says it is. She's then having please explain sessions with elders and having it all explained away with stock standard answers of pray, study, field service more/ human imperfection/ new light etc. More than likely if she voices her concern in the congregation would be unofficially shunned and labeled an apostate. Unfortunately she never posted again so I don't know what happened but you can imagine the situation she is in. Thankfully and to your credit you have seen both sides of the coin early on, so you know what you are getting into and if it dose come back to bite you, you can't say you weren't toldm -

Family gathering before disfellowshiping
by Mattieu inif you were/are in the sydenham (melbourne/victoria) congo you may be very familiar with this a few years back.
a prominent elder who likes the sound of his own voice (hint, his initials are william saad) yes of quite a well connected family, was on a judicial committee who was disfellowshiping one of his own male relatives for repeated marijuana usage.. this story by the way shows how corrupt the whole system is.
as williams family (elders and c/o) had covered up the previous few sorrid outcomes of his drug usage, they couldn't contain the last public viewing of his drug dependency, witnessed by many witnesses ironically... so they held a jc to disfellowship him.

Daniel time and time again I've seen various ones on this board who are left picking up the pieces after a relationship soured with a JW partner. Think very hard. -

I knew Fuard Saad from Sydney. I found him to be kind, hospitable, and just an all round pleasant good guy. Who treated his family well. My how things can change from one relative to another, as I'm guessing he would be related to this William. It really dosnt surprise me what you are saying about a Farwell DF party having known Fuard and my brief encounters with the Lebanese community. -

"Jehovah clearly answered my prayer!"
by stuckinarut2 inso the fade is progressing well.... however, it has been noticed by the 'hounders', who i know will be "following up" with us soon i'm sure.. so i have thought of a way of shutting down the questions etc.... if they ask about things like meeting attendance and field activity, i am going to say something like:.
"oh, thanks for your interest and concern brothers.
this means a lot.

I think you may be surprised. I walked out of the Hall nearly 2 years ago. Up until that point I had been active. Had not one elders visit and only 3 other people bothered to call on me. 2 of those 3 only called so they could fill in F/S time. I guess you can call me lucky. -

Seriously condsidering disasscoiating
by Ashley L. ini am seriously considering disassociating myself.
i want to do this because i no longer consider myself one of jehovah's witnesses.
i no longer consider jehovah as my god and i am in a new religion now.

There's a pattern emerging
by stillin inthe congregation that i am associated with pledged a monthly amount for the construction of a new assembly hall.
after it was built, that was where we went for several years, even though it was the farthest-away place we had ever had for our circuit assemblies.. after a few years, lo and behold, our congregation is assigned to a new circuit where (surprise!
) a new assembly hall is in the early stages of construction.

Be thankful that they used the money to build the assembly hall in the first place. There have been cases (one was in Mexico) where the all clear was given for an assembly hall. Then some years later after donating tirelessly, the local elders got suspicious and questioned the GB about their intentions to build. The reply they got was thanks for the donations but we are not proceeding with it any more and there you have it. I thought it was pretty ballsy of the elders to have sent that letter in the 1st place. -
