About 18 months ago I would of been a 2. Over that time I've climbed the scale to be a 5. I guess I'm a high achiever in the apostate world. I find it hard not to be bitter and angry and having spent my whole life serving a group of guys in NY.

Watchtower made money off Hurricane Katrina?
by Coded Logic inso i just heard from someone who was on the rbc that when they were working on homes after the hurricane before they could start work on a brother or sisters house the brother or sister had to first sign a form that the wtbts could collect all their insurance money.
and that since all the labor was free (and many of the brothers on the rbc provided construction materials our of their own pockets) that the wtbts actually made money off of the disaster.. has anyone seen or heard this before and is there anyway to confirm it?
it really sounds like something the wtbts would do.

Will JW.ORG actually harm the WT Society Long Term ?
by flipper inmy son and i were discussing this yesterday over coffee.
since the wt society in previous years virtually demonized going on the internet at all for jw's - now wt leaders are doing a complete turn around or about face probably so as to " compete " or keep up with all the anti-jw websites that are out there to give the wt society point of view.. however- it very well may backfire on them as once people start doing google searches looking for jw.org it will bring up all the other websites dealing with any jw issues and in the privacy of their own homes out of curiosity i'm sure lots of jw's are going to want to check out some of these sites to see what all the " apostate " hoopla is all about.
i wonder how many jw's will do this and will it have an effect in opening more minds to other views ?

I'm going to give you my experience with the internet. I could never understand with all the fine admonition regarding marriage, why the society had never printed any statical data giving proof. For a couple of weeks I investigated through the publications and found nothing. At this same time I had an acquaintance who was a born again Christian and he mentioned to me that the divorce rate is roughly about the same for born agains as what it is for the general public. This made me more curious, and wanting to dig deeper. By this time although I hadn't gone near apostate sites I was researching on the net with the view to Christians in general. Out of frustration with getting no concrete answers out of jw.org publications I thought what the hell I'll google it. With in seconds I had an answer and from there everything opened up.

Closure of an Elder run JW forum
by CharlieBrownsLovelyDaughter insome of you may know of a longstanding jw owned and operated forum named "touchstone forum" (www.touchstoneforum.net/cgi-bin/yabb2/yabb.pl).
wrench, the elder who ran the board, closed its doors rather quickly a couple of weeks ago, and has refused to discuss the reasons for the closure.
no announcement of closing.

Over the years I was on a couple of witness forums when I was in. Have to say it was pretty much the same ol same ol.
E.g what a loving world wide brother hood. Be careful of apostates etc.
Most of the time I got bored and left after a couple of months. I think basically at the time I was just trying to find hot chicks. Needless to say im still single so obviously it didn't work.

I say bullocks about there is a difference between saluting the flag and displaying it. Taking that reasoning then it would be perfectly ok to display a flag out side my house just as long as I didn't Salut it. If I gave that as a reason at a JC they would DF me in a second. I have no doubt about it. If those photos are legitimate I sort of wonder if Brooklyn know about what's going on down south.

Brave Ex Elder sues over defamation over fraud claims.
by Slidin Fast inthis looks interesting, this guy is bringing the right to family life into his case.
many have thought of doing this.
maybe a good test case.. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/jehovahs-witness-sues-for-150000-after-church-snubbed-him-over-fraud-claims-9750062.html.

What I think JW.org has to be conscious of is how is this been previewed by the public and most notably the charities commission. You're got the child abuse issue, the issue with the young boy and medical treatment and now this. Trust me if they lost their charity status it would hurt them more than any liable Court case.

In another 30-40 years a can see a religion with perhaps a couple million spread around the globe.
