Thank you everyone for your support ! It's amazing to have a place where you can talk about these things. Currently, I'd still prefer to not disclose my identity and just say I'm from an EU country. I am indeed sorry that my parents had to be emotionally hurt, but it was a necesarry evil that allows taking further distance from the borg. This entire affair has indeed started in a childish manner and continued in the same way until now. This elder in question really does have a thing against women. I've heard him times before, when a woman raised a concern, saying that women should shut up and mind their own business when it comes to the affairs of the congregation. Which is really disrespectful.

My parents are very firm on not going to any further group studies at that MS's house. It's obvious that his disrespectful behavior will only continue and get worse. He's very arrogant and fanatic when it comes to the doctrine. He basically keeps his 26 year old daughter hostage in their home. It's been that way her entire life. At 20 she got away and moved with her sister to another country. She there had a worldly boyfriend and even had sex with him, so she got disfellowshipped. While her sister remained there and never talked with her parents again, she returned home, prayed for their mercy and eventually got reinstated. She now suffers from depression and her father does not allow her to leave the house without being acompanied by one of her other siblings or mother. She's basically a hostage. Not allowed to go have any social contact outside the meetings even with brothers. I'm telling you all this so you'll understand what kind of a scum her father is.

I am trying to awake my parents to see the harsh reality. However, is not easy considering that they spent the vast majority of their lives being witnesses. It's very hard to accept that you've wasted four of the best decades of your life for this cult. I'm trying to take them slow, but at a constant pace. As I've learned from others on this forum, it's often better to talk at first about other cults so they can make a comparison in their mind. As they keep distancing themselves from the borg, I will intensify my efforts at digging at their misguided faith. Hopefully, not long from now we will all be free.

Maybe you guys remember that in January, I shared here our situation with the ongoing conflict with the MS that was conducting the WT study in our home. Well, my parents decided to talk to the elders about it. The last time he held the study in our home he really said some insulting things during it. So my father went and told the elders about it.

The next week we had the CO visit. So we were all going towards the location were the CO was about the hold the meeting previous to going in field circus (not sure how this meeting is callled in English speaking countries). Anyway we were all in the car, including the elder my father talked to. He started saying that he heard about our little problem and he's going to take care of it, and that he certainly doesn't like what's going on in this study group. My mother starts sharing some details about what happened more precisely but he tells her to shoosh cause women shouldn't be talking against brothers in the cong. Also on a pissed tone he says that under no circustances we are to disclose this situation to the CO.

We all went in field circus and later in the afternoon he called that the CO will come to our house in a sheparding visit. My parents said that they would like to talk to him about this situation with the MS. He got angry and said they should do whatever the hell they want, if they're not going to obey his indications. This elder spent the entire hour in the parking lot outside our house in the CO's car. He didn't come in at all. The CO came in with another elder and started talking about how we need to continue our spiritual progress, that we should sacrifice everything we got for Jokehova, and blah, blah, blah kept on going for an hour without having an actuall conversation with us. Basically he gave a public talk to three people.

They left, the week with the CO visit was over and now it was time for us to keep the WT study again. The elders called that they're going to come and participate also (for the first time in many months). So two elders came, one of them gave a talk (to 8 people, lol) and then it was the MS's turn to conduct the WT study. He slipped a small insult this time too. Upon the study ending my parents were anxiously waiting to see how the elders are going to take care of the problem. That elder I was talking about previously said they have two new announcements. From now on the WT study is be held on Saturdays from 7 PM by our group. Secondly, the study is being moved to the MS's house, and we should go into service with the MS every Saturday and then study at his house. How is this a fix ? My parents were shocked and speachless. The MS left and the elders stayed a little more but they've offered only cold and rude answers. My parents said that they expected for the insult problem to be taken care or at least discussed but they quickly changed the subject and ignored them, and they left too.

My parents see this as a big defeat from the MS. They're also very unhappy with the way the elders treated them. I tried to intensify their displeasal and alienation from the congregation, taking advantage of the situation. I see this as a big victory. My parents said they're not going to go to any meetings at that MS's house and maybe not even at the upcoming two day assembly (awesome !). My mother even mentioned that another discouraging situation like that could make them fall from the truth (Yaaaay ! ). Honestly, I'm really happy with how the things turned out and I hope that as time passes I will be able to make them further and further away from this cult and liberate us all.

so chatter on the net and in coffee shops suggests lots of speculation about the re-emergence of russia as the king of the north.

does this political situation give the gb a golden opportunity to simply let speculation about prophecy fly and keep people distracted from the fact that nothing they have prophecied has actually come true?.

Yeah it does. My parents, and other of their old paranoid JW friends, can't wait to hear news like this. They're just so excited right now. In their mind it's a sure thing the big A is coming right now. And don't get me started on the whole UN criticizing the Vatican thing. That made a lot of waves.

Yadda, as I've said, I've chosen my words poorly as English is far from being my first language, so even though it might have seemed that I was trying to make a big philosophical statement, in reality as was trying to refer more to big life choices in general. Furthermore, I now realize that I was also very confused since in my native language, the term WT magazines use is more of what you would define as freedom to make a choice, not free will as defined in the English language. Actually, in my native language there isn't even a word to define free will. Anyway, apologies in case I've offended you.

HayDay, I find myself in complete agreement with your views. I couldn't have put it better myself. I wonder what would happen if science would advance to the point where immortality is possible for humans. Anyway, congratulations ! I love how eloquently you've put it.

Frazzled, that's exactly why I was bothered so much. The whole thing reeks of Orwelian speak but all jdubs seem to be blind to it. I doubt they even heard of a "worldy" author such as George Orwell.

English is my second language and I probably didn't express myself correctly so some of you didn't get what I was trying to say. Yadda Yadda I wasn't refering to absolute free will. I was also not trying to get into a philosophical discussion on the nature of freedom. With a poor choice of words I was merely refering to normal life choices. Jokehova(God) , according to JW's and many other Judeo-Christian religions, tries to regulate almost every single aspect of life, from trivial things like the way you dress to who you marry and socialize with. This is pure dictatorship and cannot be compared to government laws which exist only to prevent you from hurting others and infringing on their freedoms, and indeed are not black and white when it comes to freedom. It's not all black with God either, as you are allowed some choices, but it's not near to anything of amazing freedom that the WT magazines portray.

Pontoon, you got exactly what I was trying to say. Not the consequences of my own actions borther me, but the consequences imposed from the borg, God, elders and so on. The borg lays in front of its members two apparent choices, obedience or death. That's not something anyone can deny, and it is not free will. Funny how JW's use so often terms they don't even know the definition of, or give them new definitions.

Everytime I hear JW's talking about free will, I either feel the urge to burst in laughter or feel sick. Each publication keeps talking about how wonderful Jokehova is for giving us free will. The only small thing is that he'll kill you if you don't do exactly what he says. How stupid is that ? It's like puttting a gun to someone's head and then saying, go head do as you please, just know that if you don't do exactly what I say I will kill you. Well, how "loving" is that ? How "wonderfully" free God made us !

Honestly, this thing bothered me even as a child. I'm still amazed to this day how my parents study stuff like this and still don't feel even a little bit dissonant. I mean, come on ! We are either truly free to do whatever we please and live our lives accordingly or we are not free at all and God is a big dictator. How stupid can j-dubs be sitting in the kingdom hell and listening to this crap without saying one thing against it ? I don't know how they do it; probably most aren't even paying attention.

Just last week we we're studing somewhere (can't remember exactly where) how great and free life will be in the new world. Bahahhhahah, what a joke ! How wonderful that God or the "Faithful and Discrete Slave" (same thing for j-dubs), will manage to make you live an ethernity as a mental slave not being able to make your own choices. Exhilarating prospect ! I said it before and I have to say it again. It's disgusting and funny at the same time listening to them talking about how kind and great God is for creating us with free will. The only small thing is, we have to sacrifice our lives to him. What's the point of even mentioning free will then ? Cause it's clearly non-existing.

problemaddict - you're right, I don't have anything to lose. I live somewhere in Europe, and the local culture wouldn't necessarily aid him in his arrogance. It's just how he is. His children are traumatized. He has 2, 25 + year old daughters and doesn't even allow them to talk on the phone with brothers without his explicit approval, every time.

Just as an update for everyone. I'll be away on business this Sunday so it's all up to my parents and how they react. I've advised them to be calm and yet firm.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the responses, they're all pretty funny. He is an MS. The elders of the congo we belong to, we're supposed to come to the meetings of our group at least once a month, but in about 6 months they only came twice. One of the elders is in his early 70's and homeless, so he occasionally crashes at this MS and they're good friends.

This MS is so ridiculous that once the study lasted from 7 to 9:50 PM. I pointed to the clock and he said that we can't just waltz through the material, we have to study it in detail. Last Sunday there was a picture of two little girls and their mother while taking to the elders about Facebook. The picture also showed the girls holding the book "Questions Young People Ask" (At least that's what I think it's called in English- I not sure since we don't live in an English speaking country). This MS actually asked us what chapter from the book is featured on the illustration (it looked tiny and we couldn't tell), then we pointed out that his daughter is well prepared and told her to summarize that chapter. So we actually reached a point where we were discussing what the characters from the chapter in the book, which was pictured in the WT magazine, were doing. That's how far he goes.

Not to mention all the personal attacks pointed at me about a month ago when we studied what the WT says about college (I go to college and he hates it). I did indeed thought about recording him, and I will probably do it. Too bad it's not in English so you guys wouldn't understand it. Plus, doing this would totally reveal my identity here and I need to be careful. I'm not going to move out as some suggested because my parents completely support me in everything, and this attack is pointed more at them than at me. Plus our family owns a lot of land and I handle the family business and bring home the money. He disrespected us in our home so even if I don't want him to be kicked out, my father will still show him the door.

-Steve2 I am old enough to own a house, just this one is my father's. I'm not trying to be a "defiant child", but even since I've been a JW (since birth) I've never marked or outlined my answers, or written them and the bible verses on my WT magazine as this clown asks. Since I don't see anywhere in the Bible where it says to outline my answers on my WT magazine I won't do it. I don't see how they could disfellowship me over this. As for people being exasperated by my behavior, in reality there's only one, which is this MS. His problem is that our family refuses to do what HE says. And we never will.

-Objective Truth Lol, I often do that and he hates it. My answers are not read from the WT magazine but are my own words entirely. I also try to use words that are outside of the usual WT cultish vocabulary. That's why I don't outline and write down my answers because I don't read them word for word but say everything in my own words and vocabulary. You can't even imagine how much it pisses him of. Once you start talking like a normal person and not a cult sheep, everyone looks funny at you.

NAVYTOWN - Good advice, thing is it doesn't only depend on myself but also on my parents. If they really want to kick him out and make a scene I can't stop them. Well, I could but I won't.

FactFinder - This is exactly what I hope. We live in this small town which has no JW's. If the meetings stop being held here then I'll live in a 15-20 mile area which is "WT free". I could almost live a normal life and not be bothered by anyone. That's what I want in the long term. Even if I will still theoretically be an active JW, I will live in a place free of all cult people and be normal. My father doesn't really care about any of the "spiritual" crap, my mother cares but she minds her own business. So hopefully, we won't have any WT study held here anymore and we'll be somewhat free of the cult.
