  in the cbs/ap it's reported that "only 37% of those born into the sect remain members.

  " it also said that jw is the fastest growing religion with the worst retention rate.

  i guess it's that they appear attractive long enough to baptize the people, then they lose them.

  adam was going to live forever..but he sinned.

  then why did god in eden create animals who get old and grey and die?

  also do my dogs get "divine protection" from jehovah even though they are not very spiritual.....they only like to eat and play!

  How many calories do you eat a day?

  i was surprised to see that there are 330 calories in 2 handfulls of peanuts, and 440 calories in a big daddy cookie that i eat every day.. i'm not overweight, far from it, but i weigh 15 lbs more than i did 10 years ago.

  back then i was a little too slim.

  i would like to lose just 5 lbs in the stomach area especially, not more, so that should be easy, right.. .

  I didnt start this thread because I have a weight problem, but because I notice that I'M inching upwards a little further each year, and I want to put an end to that, especially in the winter.

  i was surprised to see that there are 330 calories in 2 handfulls of peanuts, and 440 calories in a big daddy cookie that i eat every day.. i'm not overweight, far from it, but i weigh 15 lbs more than i did 10 years ago.

  back then i was a little too slim.

  i would like to lose just 5 lbs in the stomach area especially, not more, so that should be easy, right.. .

  JH, are you a guy or a gal? What kind of exercise do you do?

  Guy, and in the winter time, I do no sports, no physical activity. In the summer I walk 10 km a day and ride on bike another 10 km. Then I get down to my desired weight.

  This summer I'll play tennis too

  Yes Gopher, I do have a fast metabolism.

  In the winter time, I'm inactive and that's when I inch upwards. I hate winter and stay inside. As summer comes around, I'm always outside doing sports and then I lose most of what I gained in the winter. But when I was younger, I didn't go up nearly as much in the winter time.

  I'm not overweight, far from it, but I weigh 15 lbs more than I did 10 years ago. Back then I was a little too slim. I would like to lose just 5 lbs in the stomach area especially, not more, so that should be easy, right..

  For every pound you want to lose, you have to eat 3600 calories less, or spend 3600 more than you eat.

  So, I calculated how many calories I eat every day. I used to eat between 2000 and 2300 and I was inching upwards in weight. To remain the same weigh, I had to eat about 1800 calories, and to lose 5 lbs, I'd have to take in about 1500 calories per day continuously. At that rate I was losing 1 lbs a week. If I didn't care about my weight inching upwards, I would drink 2 beers tonight and eat those peanuts ( 600 calories)

  Now that I'm eating a little less, I have a flatter stomach and I'm fitting back into my clothes better. I can imagine how hard or almost impossible it is for some to lose a lot of weight, when I have a hard time losing 5.

  I just didn't want to keep on inching upwards and decided to try eating a little less. Some say that it,s normal to gain weight at a certain age, but when I googled that, they said its mostly because we do less exercise than when we were younger and maybe eat a little more.

  In my case, it's true.

  what have jws got against beards ?

  and it really used to annoy me that jesus and john the baptist both had such neat and well trimmed beards in the watchtower literature , how unlikley would that be in reality ?

  also they never wore a suit so why do "true christians "have to wear one , is all about appearences by any chance and giving a false impression ?

  would you have had a good conscience at the meetings if you would have given or taken blood, and knowingly broken a jw law?.

  basically, what i'm asking is, "would you have been able to have a good conscience as a jw, although you know you did something you deserve to get disfellowshipped for.. .

  I don't think that everyone at the meetings agrees 100% on everything. They may act as if they do in order to look obedient, but my question is just to find out if your conscience was bothered if you did something really wrong, but deep down inside, you didn't think it was wrong, but you knew the other JW's wouldn't have done that action because they were told it was wrong.
