I can't do it anymore.

people who've been reading my posts will know i've been trying to get reinstated so i can get back together with my girlfriend/fiance.

the more time goes on, the less i feel able to do that.

all the things i hear from the platform, and the things that elders have said to me just reinforce the fact that i want nothing at all to do with this organisation anymore.

If I told her what I realy thought of the witnesses I think she'd walk away, but at least that would give me a clean break to get on with my life, but I'd be worried about what effect it would have on her.

You cannot mislead this girl as her poor mental health would implode when she finds out your real intentions re reinstatement ( that is to say - you dont want to come back)

WIthout a doubt she would suffer emotionally at the hands of her family . If she wants to run off and marry you what is it she is in love with - what she thinks she knows about you or the real you - would you be fair to her if you married with her not knowing your innermost feelings? Running off with you would likely destroy her family relationships and then when she discovers your real stance re the "truth" the effects on her could be catastrophic.

What is best for you - a marriage build on a dark secret - probably not. What is best for her - clearly most of us want her saved from the borg but is this the way to do it? - I doubt it.

Any actions you take should put her welfare (long term) over any of your needs and feelings. Its just dreadful that the "truth" is behind so many difficult situations such as yours.

The effect on her of your walking away is likely to be short lived - deceiving her into a marriage would be permanently damaging. I sincerely hope things go well for you and her - sorry but none of us has the magic answer.

I can't understand how he can justify murder. I was watching the news at lunch and they showed him, he is completely arrogant and proud of himself and what he did. Total nutter and completely deluded

....only in America - are they all mad or just most of them? ( excepting any Americans who post here of course!)

Quote is from WT Public Affairs site which I came across by chance - what shocked me was the use of the word CAN in the last line - who are these people to assume such widespread power as to indicate that THEY ARE ALLOWING a God given right re family relationships - why oh why did I waste 30 odd years with this vermin?

biggest WTBTS threat

sorry if there has already been a thread on this subject.

do you think a really big threat to the wtbts is from people like me who are still witnesses and in the organization but also post on this board and have an open mind -- or do you think there are bigger threats -and if so what would they be?

The biggest threat has to be the passage of time. Nothing the WT has ever said about the end has remotely been true. Even if the older ones are now trapped the younger ones can and will get away.

Sadly I cannot agree. Years, decades and a century has passed from the time of some of the failed prophecies right back in the late 1800s - still a group who stay in and likely that majority now are post the 1975 fiasco and no specific new date has been promulgated recently - just the usual soon, round the corner, just ahead etc which can drag on for ever. Many (probably at least 50%) stayed after every failure of a time prediction and as new ones join the happy band they are not carrying baggae of disappointment.

As another thread detailed recently - many of us never thought we would grow old in this system - but we have - despite failures of promised release from this system - many have seen all this and stayed in the thrall of the Failed Date Corporation of Brooklyn. Some will always stay with them and they can always refocus and dangle the carrot.

Sad again at the Service Meeting

the service meeting on thursday was really saddening, particularly the last part, about preaching with boldness.

it was about overcoming nervousness, shyness, etc in the ministry.. all these people gave their experiences about difficulties they had in the ministry.

a regular pioneer (and elder's wife) admitted that she used to just pretend to ring the door bells; service is still really difficult for her, but she does it just because she feels obligated to.

I thought about all these people who are forced to do something that is often emotionally distressing for them; and then are made to feel guilty over not liking to do it.

I often wonder why we put up with it - I hated - absolutely hated FS and was ill at the thought of it - and to be told at the SM how we all loved going on the work made me want to throw up - no one I knew wanted to go - we went - we had to -we were out not from love of Jehovah or people, but fro fear of not going - How we ever swallowed the emotional guilt trip amazes me but now I just feel sorry for the decent (majority?) left inside the tower, trapped by a mind-set of guilt and fear.

Did You Feel Obliged To Do Business With The "Brothers"or Did You Not Care?

jw's are always in some business venture of one sort or another.

i knew of some in the congregation that didn't do business with brothers and sisters because they'd gotten burnt too many times.

i knew of others that felt obliged to buy something from fellow witnesses, especially elders.

Never felt obliged.in fact in some ways the Society tried to discourage brothers having business relationships and always stressed the "paper agreements" principle. The written stance of the Society was actually proper and reasonable.

From what I saw many brothers DID take advantage of "the brotherhood" and did misuse theocratic associations for their own end - a sub topic from this really is the question Would you employ JWS - my answer is NEVER I have too many scars from giving brothers opportunities and being taken for a ride - I felt obliged to employ brothers but what a mistake that was - uncaring (about their work), unfair and demanding was how I would describe brothers I have employed.

Would not do business now on principle - but then again they would not do business with me because I am "out" - or would my money speak louder than words - ?

Why the difference in JW approach in US/Canada/UK etc

reading here today a recurring thought came to me - why such huge differences in the organisation approach country by country?

it seems to me that in a lot of cases the actions of the congs/elders/branch in the us is fanatical if not lunatic whereas reports from canada show a milder approach, as with posts re issues in the uk - is this the case and if so what do you thing causes it - .

reading the many elder abuse issues from the us indicates a lot (not all) of the elders there are absolute stark raving mad - power control freaks with little intelligence or learning - are things worse there than in other places?
