razorMind,
Glad to have you here on the board.
I can relate to everything you said about education.
I was born a j-dub too and although I did good in school, I also went throughout school with no drive and no encouragement and just drifted because of the teachings of the borg about college, armageddon etc.
I'm 40 years old but didn't realize the org was a scam until I was 38.
Never went to college. And I could have been and done a lot more for myself if I had gone.
I want to say that I also feel the pain of a lot of wasted years.
Its not easy. but I am going to go back to college to get my degree.
As one poster mentioned above, "Its never too late"
For example, I went to my nieces graduation from Broome College in Binghamton NY last year and there were men and women graduatiing who were in their 40's 50's, and 60's.
This really encouraged me.I hope this encourages you too.
Also the main speaker made an excellent point which all of us ex-dubs already appreciate.
He was not a witness or an ex-dub but he said this in his speech to the graduating students: "What you do in your life is not between you and an organization. Its between you and your God."
Personally I thought this was the best "Talk" I had ever heard.
Hopefully this will be of encouragement for you to continue your desire to display your talents.
This is one of the best ways to show that the WT is a scam.

when a jw tells you christmas is pagan, therefore you shouldnt celebrate it, you can refer them to this article.
it is discussing wallpaper and other home decorations and what sorts are acceptable.. *** g76 12/22 14 are they idolatrous decorations?
so the christian needs to be primarily concerned about what?
SIRONA!!
This is excellent research from you. I just have to copy this post and I'll make sure I put it to very good use here in NYC!

when i started associating in the late 1960s the jws were very sociable and had frequent fun events.
here are some examples of the kinds of events we enjoyed, why they existed, and then the reason they were taken away:.
sports: being involved in school or professional sports was frowned upon, so the brothers in the hall would arrange for sports for every other weekend.
Hi Amazing!
Enjoyed your list above and things definitely happened that way here in the five boroughs of NYC even though some congs would follow the "rules" and some would not.It all depended on your CO and/or your body of elders, or your PO if he was particularly powerful.
With all these halfway or not followed at all "rules" its just more confirmation that "God" was not, is not, and never will be the force behind the wts.
To add, one of our CO's in the early 90's told us elders that the society said that any if any elder or ministerial servant was caught going to R rated movies or known to watch them at home, that this would be grounds for their removal.
Such nonsense!
I watched them anyway and I'm glad I did.

in past posts i have placed god on trial by questioning two issues: 1) the issues in the graden of eden, and the severe punishment of the entire human race for a very minor act of eating fruit.
2) god ordering the extermination of entire cities, including every last man, woman, child, baby, and even livestock.. results: the result on this forum have be mixed as expected, but showed a range from suport to tryuionmg top explain these events with reasoning, logic, or plausibilities.
some felt that i might be losing my faith.
Amazing,
I have had the same questions as you expressed. In fact even while still in the wts, I used to wonder why all of us supposedly have to suffer for what Adam and Eve supposedly did plus the other concerns you mentioned When I would give them deep thought they just didn't make sense to me.
Most of the people who died in the WTC just went to work that day and didn't return home. Whats the point of that being allowed to happen?
God didn't prevent that from happening either. Again, Why?
Questions, but no real answers.
But one thing is for sure: These questions definitely make the claims of all of these religious organizations such as wts false.

in 1990 the german branch sought recognition as a public corporation.
the austrian branch did a similar thing.
in 1991 lloyd barry signed for associating as an ngo with un's pr-department.
AMAZING,
I agree with your comments on this 100%. As you mentioned, some say that ex-jws hurt the societys objective of becoming more kinder. But the fact is that the hypocrisy of their changes must not be forgotten. What these j-dubs seem to forget when they complain about what exjws are doing is that the society has torn apart lives and families and caused untold suffering by dfing or otherwise sanctioning those who spoke against doctrines that they(the society)
later changed.
And I agree with you 100% when you said that the wts must be brought down somehow. That is true. It must happen and it will happen. I for one am working on enlightening jdubs here in New York City.
But I just wanted to express my agreement with your comments.

in the late 1960s, i became a jw.
there was a sense of intellectual freedom and more openness to discuss various spiritual and even some social topics.
there was reliance on watch tower literature as an authority, but still the soiciety seem to confine its concerns and left the rest up to individual jws to decide.
Hey JT!
I grew up with Kevin Swan.I know his whole family. He is from the Jamaica NY area.We went to the same kingdom hall.He originates from Jamaica Cong. And I can tell you he is definitely right-wing WT.BTW his father who was an elder for many years was deleted a few years back because the youngest son got into a lot of immorality, impregnated two young sisters, and Kevins father who was the PO tried to cover it up and keep his son from getting disciplined. So he was removed and then ran to another cong where he knew his good old boy network would appoint him again. He was reappointed. GODS SPIRIT IN ACTION EH!

i did a search on the term kingdom halls.
i found three that had e mail addresses, so i sent them information regarding the un situation.
my final statement was: "if you think i am making this up, send me an e mail, and i will give you the details.
I agree with you Kent, and thats exactly what I'm doing by regular mail.

I appreciate your comments.
Just to comment on the talk coordinating thing thats being mentioned:
I was the talk coordinator in my cong from about 1992-1997.I remember getting instructions to monitor the speaker and make sure he stuck close to the outline. I just didn't do it. I thought it was ridiculous. I personally just wanted to hear good Bible-based info presented in an interesting way. When I myself gave public talks, I did not always stick to the ouitline. If I felt that it was boring, I did what I could to make it interesting.I remember talk # 94 was one of the special talks.I changed the whole outline from what the society had written. The cong.loved it. The rest of the elders didn't even know what was on the outline because they were too lazy to check it out.
From the comments above its shows that this direction to monitor speakers was enforced in some places and in others it wasn't.Typical of the borg.More evidence that God never was, is not, and never will be behind the borg.
