The wiz,
wouldn't even have crossed my mind to ask that. I think people have to find the spiritual path for them, if you find yours in the bible, more power to you. I was just wondering where you drew it from...thanks...

Hey there. Godsmack is great. Awake isn't exactly a new cd though, it has been out for almost a year. I went and saw them in concert last summer, I ended up in a mosh pit, pretty crazy stuff...

Hey the wiz, I posted some questions to you earlier and you never answered them, would you care to go back and read them and comment????

TheWiz-- You say that people here trade one lie for another, I was just wondering what you mean. I am curious of what you think the truth is. Seriously, no condemning...just wondering

Shy, I in no way think every JW is a bad person. But I do also know many people from this board who were also abused by elders or congregtion members that never got disfellowhshipped. I think that is a sick thing. I think there is trouble in the religion as a whole. I do not believe what they teach is the truth. I believe the truth is subjective when it comes to a higher power. But that is me. I do not believe every member of the JW is bad, but I believe that they do not have the truth and I believe their claim that they are the only right way is absurd....

So shy, you say they get disfellowshiped for pedophile, wrong!!! I know 3 people personaly who were abused by elders that never got disfellowshipped, sorry to break your little glass bubble, but wake up hunny!!!
Secondly, mango never was a JW, so how can she be an apostate, you come here assuming you know us all, but what do you know?

Well you really want to know why I left the JW religion and why I have negative emotions towards the wts...Ok, but you asked for it...
First of all my 3 best friends in the organization were molested by JE elders. They all three had come foward and told someone about it, but guess what, the elders were still elders and nothing was reported to the police.
Second, my dad got disfellowshipped after we were witnesses for two years. Because he left my mom for another woman, my mom and I were considered bad association, yet we did nothing wrong. The elders kids in the main congregation I went to, smoked pot and had sex on a regular basis, yet they were never reproved. One girl who was not an elders kid, got caught smoking once, said she would never do it again and got disfellowshipped. So much for a loving forgiving organization?
I had an elders wife tell me that she new her husband had eyes for a sister in the congregation that had an unbelieving mate. She said she did not really care. She was not happy in there marriage and she doubted he was either. Yet they are both stuck to live life like that no matter what and the sister is expected to watch her husband act like this and not do anything.
Well after these things and many more things that happened to me and people I know, I began to question how this could be the true religion. I did research and found out how 1914 was a bogus number that came for some pyramidology of Russell. I found out that I did not believe what the JW taught, so I left for college and never looked back....
So there is your answer...I do not believe you have the truth and I believe JW are brainwashed and on the verge of being a cult...any more questions???
this last week, i did a short internship in a school system.
we had to do one home visit because the little girl we were going to see has been ill and has not been able to attend her early child program.
she is 3 and has a disease where half of her brain did not form and she does not have a pitutary gland.
Shy, I am not jumping to conclusions. I was involved in 4 cong and visited many others, in the majority of those places, I saw kids get beat and spanked for not sitting still during the meeting. Some kids were as young as 1. Do you think that is appropriate? I certianly hope not. You are right, the meetings are not all they do. But what about when they are taken in field service all day and then expected to sit through a meeting, is that right? (and yes I have seen it done). and what is the difference between a fake and a real witness? I would love to hear your definition.

am-- I agree, it is best for the parent to take the child to do something else if the child cannot sit still. It has been proven that children learn better by interacting with the environment, and not just sitting for two hours. You may have learned the bible at an early age and it may not be the worst solution, but kids do learn better in different situations and would have more fun with it and retain it better. I never understood why JW were against some type of sunday school or something for the children. Adults barely have a long enough attention span to sit through a sunday talk, let alone a 2 year old.
i watched an interesting program last night (i believe on primetime), wherein diane sawyers interviewed rosie o'donnell.. the topic centered on gays and adoption.
rosie recently came out of the closet in order to extend her support to florida gays who are prohibited by law to adopt.
rosie, herself, has three children.. some of these gays, by the way, are foster parents.
Yes gays should be able to adopt. I use to baby sit for a family that had adopted three children and they were a lesbian couple. They loved those children so much and still do. The kids have a wonderful stable home environment. I think that gays wait until they are in a much more secure environment before adopting most of the time and that is good for the children. Love, nuturing and the ability to care for the children you adopt is what is important. I think the bigger problem is when one couple adopts huge numbers of children. This may be ok, but it could lead to the same neglect the children had experienced in the past.
